I remade a texture for one of the stock sci-fi doors, but I don't know how to apply it. I need to have a working copy of the original sci-fi door with the texture applied to it. how do I do this?

That's not all you do..
He didn't exactly ask how to change the texture file of
a door, he asked how to re-texture the door.

You need to download a DDS convertor found on google, first or second link.

Go find the texture file for the door your editing,
If you don't know where then open the .FPI like Anayer said.

Convert the DDS texture into a .png

Make it look how you want it too.

Convert back to DDS and replace with old one.

Or re-make all the files so you have replicated files then
you don't need to overwrite your old door.

@ Wise Wowk,
That's not all you do..

Using paint.net saves you having to convert it back and forth. And he did as how to change the texture, not retexture, if you read his post.

and you'd know about retexturing wouldn't you...

You tell me, Would I?
Stalker.

And paint.net sucks....

Gimp, Photoshop, Fireworks, they all beat paint.net,
that's just the next step from paint.

And BTW,
I don't need to read the post if
the guy would name his thread correctly
Good day sir

No, don't even bother,
Your going to scramble my words again....
I'm not gonna visit this thread again anyway.

Ouch... cut me real deep there . That is a very immature, insulting remark, I don't know where you've come from. But on this forum we respect each other and do not say things like that .You might also get in trouble with the mods.

Gimp, photoshop, fireworks, they all have to get dlls to support .dds

Shut down, can't argue with that
You should read the threads or you'll look like a fool.

Well, I shouldn't start a flame, or I might get burnt

Wise Wowk... Im amazed that you have the audacity to go around insulting people like that. You dont have the right, or authority to go around talking like you did, and I advise you to apologize.

I think in this question, it plainly says that he has already created the second texture, and all he needs is help applying it. I would end your two's useless, pointless discussion here before this gets locked, and someone gets slapped

Cheers,
Anayar

The problem is solved...

WAIT, don't lock it! I am still encountering a problem...
I changed the texture0 path to my custom texture, but it only change the door frame. How do I change the door as well?

In the fpe file, it should say something like this

;visualinfo

textured = Texture.dds (May also be jpg,bmp,png etc)
effect =
castshadow = 0

Quote: "I didn't insult anyone, Stalker isn't an insult."

Not only is it an insult, it is a serious accusation.

I advise you do, and I'm sorry if I've offended you in any way I was just trying to do the appropriate thing.

That's because the door isn't a segment,
The door is a entity and the frame is the segment.

To edit the texture for door you need to find the door files in the entitybank then edit the texture file.

ohhhhhhh, I see

So how do I make the door entity I retextured the door the segment uses?

Is this the doors fpe?
partmode1 = 3
meshname1 = entitybank\scifi\scenery\doors\door_f.fpe
