Old Phobia 2 thread here:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Phobia 2 - The Fear of Death.(the name possible isn't final)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The Game:
Trapped in a old mansion without any way to escape. You'll have to settle the dark history of the mansion on order to break the curse and get out alive.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

An "To Do list" of Phobia 2(all the things I need to do):

= Done
= Not started
= Working on

1. Story and gameplay:

2. scenario of every level:

3. Models(probally made in blender)this isn't necessary, but possible:

4. Textures(Im planning on making an hand made textures for a bit cartoony, but creepy look):

5. Level desing:

6. Music and sounds:

7. 2D art(menus, huds, letters, cutscenes...):

And maybe more. Hope this list will keep my interest of making the game.

Screens look nice... hard to see detail though. Again, why is this in Models & Media?? It should be in W.I.P forum

Cheers,

Oops
I hope that mods will change it soon

But anyway. The teaser should show more or less what kind of a game Phobia 2 will be.

But im having a problem here. The game isnt even half way done and its already almost reaching the 1.80g limit. Even though, I tried to use simple and limited leveldesing and models.

I guess I'll have to put the game in diffrent parts, multiple exe's.
Or figure something else.

Looks really good, but your english isn't quite right - "The fear of the death" isn't good english and doesn't make sense. It should simply be "The fear of death".

Hmm. That can be... If I mean the Death as a person.
(Well that would make less sense...)

I maybe should change that one...

Thanks for the help

Why not simply multiple levels?

what? I mean the game build overal with multiple levels. Atleast theres seems to be one. Though, none of my levels arent even close the limit, but still in the building progress the last level is already getting close. Atleast when I last checkt.

Looks nice (I like the blue lighting) but definitely way too dark. Remember, dark doesn't = scary. Darkness like in your videos is usually just plain annoying because you just can't see anything. Take the Ravenholm level in Half-life 2 for example, you can clearly see everything and when you can't you've got a flashlight. And even then, the only times you need to use the flashlight are in a few small and dark areas, large open areas are usually well lit (obviously there are exceptions).
In order to make darkness scary, you need to balance it out by having lots of well lit areas. That way when the player is forced to go into darkness, it's that much scarier

The video is darker than the game itself. The flashlight lights just enough to see. And I had to lower the brightness of the flashlight because it light too far, and enemies didnt light at all. But I'll try to balance it better. There also will be lighted areas, but not much. The game will be very dark. But still enough to see. Again, Youtube made the video dark. But still, thanks for the hints!

Wow, i'm impressed, the new levels look stunning, altough i never finished phobia 1 (got a Bug that prevented me from continuing and the savegames did not work so i was pissed and ditched it), i liked how you told the story in the beginning and the basic idea of the game, so i'm waiting to play the new phobia.

greetings, Daniel

Can't wait for this masterpiece to get done! Your games are some how different from others.. They are almost ingenious. Hard to explain . But please, don't give up, finish this project wether it took 1 month or 1 year

Thanks all of you. Sorry for not posting any updates recently.
I haven't been in a mood of making Phobia. But I will continue it very soon and post some screenshots. But still, release will be in 2011 cause I want this one to be good and finished.

Thanks for all the comments and support

Sorry for not posting any updates in a too long time. I haven't been in a mood of making Phobia. I updated the first post. I made an "To Do" list of Phobia 2, what hopefully will keep me interested of making it. The "story" and "scenario of every level" are the hardest parts, but after them, it will be a lot easier.

I bet it will be. I mean, a project this cool, it would be a crime to show it and not finish it! And I too get those moments when I don't have any inspiration, but when I get some inspiration, itäs back to making the game!

Of course it will be finished. I just neeted to find the right way to do it. And start is always hard, but now done. And maybe hardest things are the 1 and 2 in the list, and both of them are almost done.
I was rushing too much in the later Phobia 2 projects. Like just starting to do something with the editor not even knowing what to do next. I will be updating the list as soon as I get something done. And there might be some new things coming to the list too.
Stay tuned!

I hate to bump this but I'd just like to say, if this was
anywhere around $.99 - $2.00ish when released... I'd probably
buy it. That being said, if the quality matches up to the first
one. I have to say that Phobia 1 was possibly top 3 in my opinion
because while the English wasn't perfect, I still understood the
story. At first it seemed cliched but how it all wrapped up was
great. I hope you finish this game soon dude.

The most important thing in Phobia 2 is the story, and it only comes with a time. I cant force myself to invent it.
When the story and level scenarios are finally done, it will be a lot easier and the progress of the game will wont take too long to finish. I will wait till the ideas and the story will be fully finished. Thats the reason its now taking so long to progress. (and some problems and things Im having right now in my life)

But Im pretty sure the game is released before summer or at the start of it.
If it turns out well as I think it will, the game will be sold with a very cheap price, so that anyone who want can buy it.

Thank you all for waiting so long, and hope you understand.

You know Jonez, asking the question: Why was Silent Hill 2 that great, will sink you down into the seas of watching every ``Making of`` video of team Silent. Anyway, those guys didn`t made game forcing themselves to do it. They just waited for inspiration to come by itself.
And hey, they made a great game.
So, the longer you`re making the game. And not taking that as a obligation. Will actually help you make a great game.

Cheers m8

By they way, I have to ask, what did you use to generate the art for Phobia 1?
I'm talking about the intro video of course.

AMD Phenom II X6 3.2Ghz, 8GB DDR3 Extreme RAM,
ASUS M4N98TD EVO Motherboard, Nvidia 560 Ti 1GB DDR5
