right now forget about the game itself, how would a person go about making an online game, like for example if it was an rpg. Does DBpro have any restrictions on like the amount of players in the game? Any information is appreciated.

directplay itself has a limitation of 255 but u can work around that with a tier system.

If u dont own 2 pcs and havent mastered the basics, Id' suggest you get a good grip with variable manipulation and handling, then consider sharing those variables across a network apllication framework.

ya, don't start on a massive RPG project until you can get a simple network game going
