I am starting a zoo pack of animals. I want to put it on sale for a few dollars. Any suggestions on how many animals, what animals and how much?

I made the first one, is an elephant. It only has idle animation, or course some other animals will have idle animation and attack mode. Maybe some zombie animals that would be cool.

What do you think?

I definitely wouldnt go for "zoo" animals.

If they are just objects it'd be boring, and if the have a kind of idle animation it'd be looking weird. About "classic zoo" animals that attack, I think it'd be a waste of your time and ressources as these are not widely usable.

So if you are about to design an animal pack I'd go for everything that would classify as a "LAB" animal.

Small animals like mice or guinepigs - or even birds- don't look to weird with a kind of "static" animation and larger typical lab animals (it hurts but thats reality) like cats, dogs or monkeys are eligible to attack the player. It could include larger predators like tigers or even reptiles

Since experimental labs are quite a common feature in FPSC games so you'd have better chances people would be willing to spend money on your pack.

I agree. You are more likely to get people interested ( and thus giving you their money ) if you were to have a "experiment lab animal" pack than a zoo pack. I've never seen a FPS that takes place in a zoo... But in labs with experiments? It's a staple in any sci fi game!

I think you would get more interest from users with a lab pack, which means you'll make more money.

I think this is a good idea. but dont make a zoo pack. make a jungle wild animal pack like lions and tigers. it will go great with pack 29.

more than what meets the eye

That elephant is mad! Great work. You could make it into a war elephant or something more fps-ey but thats top notch quality.

First, I just want to say you guys are AMAZING. I am very new to all this and trying to learn quickly and it's awe inspiring to look at the work you guys are doing. Any advice on which modeling program(s) I should be getting or books I should be reading?

Actually I just had a buddy today ask me if I could make a deer hunting game for him. Maybe Deer, Bear, Mountain Lion, etc. Stuff like that that we (read: me ) can use for some sort of hunting game.

this looks cool, I'd love to see birds that can follow waypoints in the air, or perch on a ledge. perhaps, to save space, make the bird models "groups of birds" so we don't have 6 characters running, taking up space, just flying around above the map.

I think AC3D is an exellent program to get used to 3d, there is also blender which is more difficult but free, milkshape is great for making animated characters and weapons, wings3d and truespace are also good modeling programs.
