You know, it actually looks really quite nice, except you're missing a couple of basic rules -

Some of your lights don't have light sources.
Your rooms are huge - especially the first screen.

Give those a tweak and it could look really good.

This looks great so far!
Like Butt mokey said, adding light sources and smaller rooms and this will be fantastic!
I will be checking back on this, and I understand that this is only the first beta.
Good luck with the progress of this!
Keep it up.

I like the look of the the third screenshot. But the bathroom on the first screenshot definitely needs downsizing.

Theres nothing wrong with having lights here and there without light sources, just try and be careful about them. One place you could put them is inside cars so it looks like the cars are lighting up the area, or (small lights) under the cars so that it looks like neons attached to the bottom of the car.

Also, I do quite like large rooms, although, they can be a bit or a hardware hog, if the computer can handle it, i think you should put them in. Not only do they add to the feeling of the game, it also means that in 5 years time, people will still be playing it, because it runs well on their computers, and has a good feeling. I also believe that lots of people (including myself) like games with high system requirements, therefore, if you have lots of large rooms, you will have larger system requirements, meaning, potentially a larger market.

I would actually recommend changing the colour of the lights. They look too much like stock lighting, and even if the colors are changed by the smallest value, It could make all that difference.
Because face it, without a yellow globe, how can the light appear yellow?

Try a softer yellow, or an eggshell white?
Other than that, Really great progress so far, I too especially like the third screen
