Newcomers DBPro Corner / sync failure?

After upgrading to 1.13 a sync after print intermittently fails. Is anyone else having this problem or just me?
For now I'm working around with
print "something"
sleep 10 : sync

I've got BDP alienware demo version and print commands behaves very strange.
I also heard that on windows xp systems you should use sync in couple for examp.
print "something"
sync:sync

but I am not sure
