I am new to DBPro and found a demo that uses scrolling backdrop. When I compiled it, I got that the command is obsolete. The help mentions using sky and boxes. I was wondering if there is a replacement command or if someone can provide some code snippets to replace the scrolling backdrop command. Thanks for your help.

Maybe post the code and we'll get an idea of what it should be doing exactly?

Sounds more like a skybox than a scrolling background exactly...

update your dbpro to the latest version as the texture backdrop command has recently returned. link here

add: from some intial testing i did when the command returned, it appears texture backdrop is just a fancy sprite command since the performance hits are near-identical. basically i think it automatically scales a sprite to the window/screen size and maybe uses the SET SPRITE TEXTURE COORD to scroll it via scroll backdrop (tho i haven't played with either since).

good luck!

Here's some code that uses a plane to replace the backdrop, then scrolls the texture of the plane...

@Virtual Nomad - I have that update but I still get the "obsolete" error. Seems funny that they should put TEXTURE BACKDROP back in, but then take out SCROLL BACKDROP.

@rich, crap, ur right. scroll is gone...

@op, i played with set sprite texture coord and it wasn't what i expected (but was fun). ie, i don't see how it could scroll the sprite's image (maybe someone else can?).
