I haven't started using my copy of Dark Basic Professional, but since I have seen Heavy Metal, anime, cell shading in games, and the cell shading option on Dark Basic Professional( it's cartoon shading in the program). I ask; could you have crosshatching shadows in a game? And if so what are the codes for it and cartoon shading?

I really don't know what do you mean by crosshatching . But i can answer your other question.

Use set cartoon shading on object number, shade image, edge image command. Very simple, and giving incredible effects .

Cheers!

Thank you for the cartoon shading code. I'll try to remember how to use it and test it. I'll try to elaborate what I meant; as your character walks from dark to light you start to see cross hatching lines being revealed.

Wow, coders

It's an art technique when you drag a set of diagonal lines and overlap them over and over again, getting more and more detailed (depending on the project, or the artists choice of wanted detail)

Simple crosshatching:

Thanks DJ,

Also to take note of how there are less lines intersecting when it's lighter and the opposite when it's darker.

Imagine that shade on your character while it moves from a really bright area to a very dark area. Same for the shadows that reflect on the character from place to place.

I just thought it would be great on the game I am making considering the look it gives from a graphic novel and/or Heavy Metal cartoon.

Add that in with some good Cel-shading.

@ Virtual Nomad

Thanks Man , sorry about the delay.

I now just need to learn how to combine the two(cartoon and crosshatching).
