And you posting your media in here will mean that things like WASP mod, which actually belong in here, will also get lost.....go figure

I've moved this to the FPSC models section for you Steve. Also, could you reduce your first image to a smaller size.

Wow..
This is some pretty good work, but
22 USD is a little expensive for an FPSC pack.
Can you show us a screen of the contents in the editor inside the entity/segment section?
I'm not exactly sure what I'll be getting for $22.

I know that its cheaper than what the real models would be at the extreme professional scale, but, keeping in mind, the large majority of the FPSC users are 10-15, and probably wouldnt all have that kind of money to fork out, unless they knew what exactly they were going to do with it. In which they would need to know exactly what was in it.

I checked out the Arteria3D website and although I knew most of the models there where 2 unknown striking my fancy:

The medieval and (especially!) modern sewer pack. Any chance we'll see those for FPSC?

I think the price is really good but I would like to ask if the models are FPSC ready? More specifically if they come with an installer or if you have to import yourself.

Thanks for the interest.

If you look at the shanty town pack on my website, you will note its much more expensive.

IN fact.. why not download the shanty town game level here - this is the EXACT SAME pack as the FPSC pack, just running in unity.
There isnt an installer for the pack.. there isnt a need for one, simply copy the folders over to your FPSC installation and all files are setup

As quite a few have expressed interest in this pack, if you are genuinely interest, ill reduce the price down to $16., Ill do this right now

Also.. all of my packs are FPSC friendly

Nice work at a reasonable price, but it's nothing that isn't already available for free, CP's 'Nuke City' pack springs immediately to mind...

ShantyTown 2 is about 3 weeks off also - this is a huge pack containing over 70 buildings, props, and segments. That will be a higher priced pack, as it will feature animated animals and characters too.

Customers who purchase Shanty Town 1 will get a discount on Pack 2.

pack 2 features a farm, and many different styled streets

I think that you should make this an official FPSC pack. You'd be bound to get quite a few sales, and it would be a pretty good amount of items if you included both in one pack!

As for the price, I see nothing wrong with it at all. Of course, I've no money to spare... and I would probably buy it...

I reject your stereotype of Wisconsin and, in fact, live in a city.

I usually don't repeat my posts...but what about those 2 sewer packs on your website? (really well done btw, I did spend quite some time there)

@Steve, are you considering selling those as an official MPs?(I guess it'll be a lot more work since this should come as segments instead of entities)

I also noticed that a lot of your models I know from official MPs luck a tad more realistic on the screens on your website so....can it be, that you have to "downgrade" your textures for FPSC? Or is our engine just not treating them to the best?

@The Storyteller 01

WIth respects to the models looking better in unity, this is true. FPSC doesnt have the prettiest of renders, but models do still look good with the right lighting, and effects for sure.

Texture quality is reduced in FPSC from what i can personally see, but again, im very pleased with how this pack looks, and especially packs by bond etc, showing that even with FPSC you can create some great looking scenes.

Hi Stevie!

I have just been testing Shanty Town (with shaders) in FPSC X9 and it looks great!

There is one big "problem" however and that is the rather large size of the textures. 2048x2048 px consumes a lot of memory and even a small level pushes memory usage up to the FPSC limit of 1.8 GB.

Shanty Towns levels would be great if they could be huge so I would like to hear if the next pack could be with 1024x1024 textures instead?

It may sound crazy but I think a larger level is to be prefered over higher detail

Scurvy Lobster why not just rescale the textures in photoshop, gimp etc. make sure to keep backups of the main files though.

cheers henry

Sure, that is a fine alternative.

But still, you run out of memory really fast with the shanty town models. So when the next (bigger) shanty town pack arives we may not even be able to use all models in the same scene.

HI

Its impossible to use such a low texture size to maintain texture quality on a building - as fpsc requires you to use just one texture per model, cramming the whole buildings detail to a single 1024x1024 makes the detail very low res

ALso.. im thinking your using the shader version with normal maps? Those additonal maps can really increase texture usage. I always think myself, that normal and spec maps are great inventions.. yet our graphic cards are still relatively small in onboard memory, and these maps really do use a lot of memory

Yes, I am using the "full" version and I might just jump down on the version without the additional textures. I suspect that will save a lot of memory - only question is if it will be too costly on image quality.

Stevie
User Banned
Posted: 24th Jan 2011 17:05
Not really. When i use normal maps, i use them sparingly. Look at my shanty town UNITY level i gave you all a link to - i only use 5 or 6 normal maps, on the key eye candy elements and never use spec maps, as i dont see the point, as these elements can be added to the normal map
