If the weapon in the right hand corner of the second photo is what you're calling the boomerang dagger be careful if you're planning to do this as a commercial game. That dagger design is identical to one of the ones in either Soul Caliber 3 or Soul Caliber 4. The only difference is the texture.

I don't have the game anymore, but when I get home from work I will look it up online and then reply with a photo when I find one.
(Edited to add following section

Okay just watched the soul caliber video and the video you posted of your animations. Yes the animations are different. However, the design is too identical...it looks like it was just rescaled, made to fit different animations and retextured.

Not trying to be a jerk, just if you're going to use it for a commercial game just wanted to let you know this will more than likely be an issue and would hate to see that happen. That weapon design is too specific to soul caliber for it to just be a random coincidence. Anyone that sees that, who knows the soul caliber series is instantly going to think rip-off.

You probably have in mind dragon chakram (davanagari)
http://www.swordsknivesanddaggers.com/product/HK-05360/Dragon_Chakram.aspx

but this is still some kind of weapon from real world (martial legendary indian weapon) like ninja churikken.
so it is no illegal to use it for game, besides of this - ring blade from Soul Calibur is huge and used in different way (Tira has ring blade called Aiselne Drossel).

but thanx for your post

No, he doesnt model them.
He pays others to for him, or buys them from turbosquid, or a similar resource, and posts them here.

Although that sounds really cozy the harsh reality is, that there is no funcioning sytem where "no one ever pays something for anything". Call me a spoil-sport but quotes like yours always make me suspicious because they put everything possibly illegal into the responsibility an anonymous group of people.

Don't be fooled, at the end of the day it's always the guy publishing who's reputation is at stake.

Frankly I'm disgusted by the fact that you'd say such a thing in the author's own thread. It's not illegal to use someone else's models.

I dont see why you can't
Quote: " say my business secrets."
I mean, really, whats to hide?
What makes them so secret? are they hiding behind a jolly roger or something..?

And you cannot NOT pay for anything for these kinds of models.
That just isnt right..
something is fishy here.

I just dont understand why you people dont graps the concept, that someone using FPSC as a game engine can gather a team of people for just credits and have such stuff. This is an increadible team from all over the world (30 plus at the moment) Talented modeler and animators. The man has been gathering assets and team members for two years. I myself was inspired by the uniqueness of his game idea, which prompted me to lend a hand for only credits in his game. Beside the fact of all the practice I am getting at building models and fixing problems dealing with a team of people from around the world with different model programs and modeling styles, and make them function in the game engine. The knowledge I have gained in the last four month working with him is increadible. I have no reqrets working on this project for just credits. The modelers and other talent that work on this project are just as happy as I am. Our work is getting used in a functioning game and our stuff is being seen. What else could one want. A bit of hard work now for great product later with a lot of thought put into it, so it is not just another FPSC shootem up game. Thats what will make this game special when completed. The reason for showing stuff is to get feedback from people to make the game even better.

My point: Do some work, talk to artists that display there stuff, get there permission to use there assets, and make it so. I bet you will find that you too can get a team of people together to do great stuff also.

Okay it seems that I inadvertently caused a huge issue just simply trying to give Mr. Game a friendly piece of advice about his Chakram weapon looking too much like something from Soul Caliber. I feel it only right that I clarify something here.

In simply pointing out to Mr. Game that his one weapon looked almost identical to one of the weapons from a poular video game I was IN NO WAY implying or accusing him of ripping, stealing, or any other method of dishonorably using that weapon. He later sent me a link to a website that sells a chakram weapon that looks identical to the one in his game. Now either soul caliber based their weapon off of the real one or the real one off of the one from soul caliber I don't know. I also have no way to prove or disprove if Mr. Game or anyone on his team actually made that model.

The point I was trying to make to him is that it was identical enough to the one in soul caliber that it might cause an issue for him later on. I had just wanted to make sure he was aware of the similarity is all. I've been working with several people from all different locations on the starship troopers community pack so I know first hand that a lot of people collaborate on projects.

Basically what I'm getting at is please don't base your opinions of his models or their validity off of what was only a friendly heads-up.

@Mr. Game: I'm sorry this seems to have caused so much of an issue.

Thats cool, credits were in the first post.

Turbosquid and other sites displaying models are a great resource, not just for the models, but for the talent that makes them. Look around on the web. There are a lot of people willing to make what you want for credit and recognition only. All of them have contacts. Some of them will even make new stuff tailored just for your requests. Email them and send them a sketch or verbal idea and see what they come up with. You will be suprised at what you can get for no money. But you will have to learn how to get it into the game engine.

We sit and look at sketches from artist all the time from all over the world, and then we find out which artist on our team would like to make it for us. We have no problem getting new models. I still have 300 to 400 hundred more to convert. Getting new ones all the time.

Use the resource of the internet, thats why they are there.

Happy game making.
