Greetings,

I am new to these forums so I am not sure if this is the correct place to post. I saw a video of someone playing a game they had built using FPSC. In their game, the player was able to aim down the sights and take shots with precision and the weapon responds with recoil accordingly. I, however, don't have this feature and I was wondering if it was some type of weapon script I wasn't aware of. I am, in fact, new to these things so I apologize for my lack of knowledge. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Relax,we all start from somewhere.

Now the thing you have seen is a feature in AirMod , which is now integrated into the regular engine from updates 1.17 and up.

To use sights and recoil all you need to do is use the apropriate commands in each weapon's gunspec.txt , located in Files\gamecore\guns\your weapon\

Now these commands are a bit tricky and most people don't write their gun settings themselves , because Errant AI was kind enough to supply the gunspecs for us (this applies to his Model Pack 9 & 10 weapons).

You can find his weapon updates for MP9 & 10 here - http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=172443&b=21

As far as other weapons like the G36 , P226 , RPG7 , etc. , you'd need to buy them from the GameCreator Store. They automatically have ironsights and recoil.

The most important thing you need is FPS Creator update 1.17 or higher.

Hope this helps

My brother is stationed there!

To add to what Gencheff has already explained, ironsights can be set up for ironsights manually, but it's best if the weapon was modeled for them (that is, they contain the necessary animations). If you run a search for "ironsight" on this board, you should be able to find some threads to help shed some light on the subject.

@Gencheff

Thank you very much for your help. Your well written response helped me out a lot. I am now running 1.17 and the weapons are capable of precision shooting. Can I take the commands that allow the iron sights to be used and incorporate them into other weapons that lack the ability? Will it work? Again, thank you for your help.

@Plystire

Thank you for your help. I used the search engine to research the subject and I am now a little bit more knowledgeable. Just a little...
Your brother, do you know what unit he is with? I'm at Camp Pen right now; his barracks might not be too far away.

Yes. If a weapon didn't have the capability already, you can most likely find the gunspec settings in DarkFrost's ironsights thread. The system is quite tunable so you can adjust the various settings to suit your needs.

I don't believe the official documentation has been uptated yet so I'm attaching the Fenix mod manual for you. Skip to page 25 under the "Gunspec Settings" section for a list of most of the commands found in v1.17. You can cross reference the gunspecs in the links which have been provided in this thread and it should give you a better idea of how things work. Most of the something=x,x settings on the last page of the manual are strictly for weapons which have special animations for the feature built in so you don't need to concern yourself with those if you are retrofitting an older weapon asset.

Just be aware that some of these settings have changed a little when they were added to v1.17 and there are now even more options in v1.18 including some subtle stuff like being able to define ammo pools so that carried ammo can be shared between same-caliber weapons.
