This is something I was playing with. Originally I just wanted to lock the lighting down low and when the player tried to use the <> keys, he would be presented with a message that he needed a code that he would find in the electrical closet. Somehow it morphed into this. It's easy to install and use and instructions are included. (attached)

Also in the extras folder you will find a file called Game Settings.exe.

Place this file in the folder of your finished game and it will allow the player to configure the setup.ini. If he doesn't have the best graphics card and the game lags, he can turn down some of the settings to improve performance.

You can add lots of things. This was just to show one possible HUD option. It's not very generic and so has to be configured for your particular game, but I'm sure others can come up with some interesting variations.

I like the idea of pressing one key and viewing level info, objectives, key assignments (sometimes I forget them)... whatever.

The HUD is an image. Like I said, It would need to be changed to suite your level. It's best to make a new HUD image in your graphics program and type the needed text/info on the image. The info will change for each level. I used a transparent layer but you don't have to.

You could do the whole thing with RAWTEXT but that would be a bit of coding and you would still want an image behind it to make sure it's readable.
