ok well check this out, i was thinking of including bb gun replicas in addition to the actual guns in an upcoming game. im not selfish so im realeasing the ammo thingy to the public. its designed for ammo pooling since every bb gun uses 6mm. (cant wait to get PB, just two more days!! ) heres some pics, i think u know where the download is. instructions to make a bb gun out of any gun u already have can be located below and in the download

how to make a bb gun

well now that u have the model u should realize that a bbgun is nothing more than a low powered gun, just take any gun, give it this ammo
(ammo pooling with project blue is encouraged) and follow these steps

MAKE COPIES OF GUNS U WILL TURN INTO BB GUNS

1. open up gamcore\guns and pick the gun u want to change. remove the things that have muzzle in it and brass, the gun effect, and the hud
muzzleflash position, this will remove wat makes a gun different from a pellet rifle.
2. put the fire.wav document into the folder.
rename this folder to something pellet rifle or whatever to so u know its a bb gun. make sure u keep the original
3.set up the ammo pooling (not my department)
4. test the gun in the game, make sure its ok
5. (optional) considering bb guns do less damage, but are made out of pelets, so they can have ridiculousy big mags (my cousin owns a mp5
bb gun with a 200 magazine cap) u may want to adjust the gun spec.....if u want to

Cant really see the point of a bb gun,
how is it going to be any diffrent from the other guns.
bb gun replicas in addition to the actual guns
if you want a gun to do less damage just change the gun specs etc.
A game is`nt real life there are no gun laws so why have a
replica gun.

if u wanted a mass amount of guns, also if you had the idea of changing guns in mind, what im trying to get across is that it opens options, gives ideas, as well as gives the player a choice to use a pellet rifle with ups and downs than a rifle with ups and downs, its just a thought

...I can see the tactical advantages that using a BB/Pellet Gun would provide.

I keep such a weapon in my personal arsenal, for that very reason.

Thanks for the model and the modification data, chorelan.

Who says that in every game you have to have highly lethal weapons? I was thinking about having airsoft guns in a FPS game as a mean of a training scenario since some real military units use hi-powered airsoft weapons to simulate combat.

Yeah
.177 caliber is a 4.5 mm
.22 caliber is 5.5 mm

Wal-mart sells a Beeman pellet rifle that has a detachable barrel so you can swap it out and shoot either kind of pellet. ($98)

The difference is in the sound, so you don't need a silencer for a bb gun.
The projectile does not leave the weapon by explosion, as with firearms. (uses air instead, as you already know)
In many states in the US, it is illegal for convicted felons to own a firearm. (so airguns would be okay)

Lewis & Clark carried a .30 caliber air rifle on their expedition (1804 - 1806), and the natives were amazed by it more than any other item they had.
The advantage was that it needed no powder to shoot it, which made it highly desirable in remote areas.

Yeah, those 6mm airsoft bb's are rubber. (don't they make a 4mm version too?)
The pellets I was talking about are lead, and can do real damage.

This is a great idea Chorelan
bb/pellet guns are commonly used for target practice.

Thanks
