age of empires is an rts(real time strategy) game, final fantasy is an rpg(role playing game) its soooo complicated making any game that no one is gonna explain it too you, just make small programs using the tutorials and examples that come with dark basic.

What kind of class are you taking that you have to program video games!? I know there are some gaming colleges out there, however you have to have at least a 3.0 - 3.5 minimum GPA to get into those, plus hella skill.

Sometimes you'll find a teacher cool enough to use game programming to teach or a school with a small gaming department(usually a couple classes). Not many early educational schools or public schools (1-12 grade) have any kind of gaming in the curriculum.

Plus, what kind of teacher wouldn't give you the materials and info needed to create the games before assigning you to make them?

It just sounds fishie to me, just MHO...

I've got DBClassic and Photoshop Skillz and I'm not afraid to use um!

An rts huh? This should get you started. As your assignments are to create video games, I'm going to assume you have experience already.
