So...I actually only wanted to ask you guys something simple, about my current project "Relict".

I'm finally at the stage where I make the introduction of the game.
The old version was to have a maincharacter that is a Cleric. An adept in an abbey that learned to use magical powers there.

I have an other concept in mind where the player is a thief that has repressed magical powers and is captured and brought to the abbey's dungeon. That would allow me to add a tutorial level where the player attempts to escape.

So, to make a long story short:

Would you like to play a cleric (good guy that has been raised in an abbey) or a thief (good guy with less strict views of morality that had a few fights already raised in a slum)?

So, I would love to hear a few answers, dudes

************************************

Opening a whole threat for such a simple question seemed a bit stupid to me, thats why I offer to you guys 2 fully shaded segments (they use bond1's free normalmapping shader).

Free or commercial use...

The folder's name must be kept.

Great job on those segment wolf!
Im going to have to get in touch with you about some of my own, so I can attempt to get a quality near resembling yours.

Personally, I have a thing for evil characters/plots, so I would preffer to play the theif that was brought up in the slum. Just sounds much more colorful.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot Wolf! Your work is always top quality, and greatly appreciated.

I'd personally love to see the Theif as well, unless the character development throughout the game had the Cleric descending into a malevolent, wicked and corrupt character as a result of actions and experiences through his journey. Definitely have to agree with Titanium though, it just sounds more colorful and gives the protagonist some shape; dark, nefarious shape to be more specific.

Although I'd say the character portrait would rely (to me at least), a lot on the role you want the character to play in the environment you've created for Relic. If the character is supposed to seem very much a part of this dominantly brooding and sinister looking atmosphere, shifting through the shadows and knowledgable of the dark corners of the world, then the Theif seems very appropriate. If however the tone of the game is to put tension on the player, as though they're facing this dark place, trying desperately to traverse and survive the unfamiliar hostility around them, then the Cleric seems more appropriate. Just my two cents.

Thanks again,
Cheers

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

I would prefer the thief, but if you added more to the clerics purpose, background, or something like that, I would be more interested in that sort of character.

I am putting my personal preferences aside (personally I am working on a Fantasy plot around a Templar-Battlemage)and look at the choices purely from the point of storytelling.

And for me the clear winner is the thief, because

- the whole start of being captured and put into the dungeon makes more sense with a thief.

- being raised without proper education and having supposedly no contact with scholars or spiritual people makes it more logical, that his dormant maical abilities haven't been noticed so far.

- being trained in the use of bows and crossbows is more likely with a thief. Since there are several cool models, it would be a shame not to use them

- a thief would have less problems with killing attackers or threatening innocents than a cleric, not only in the "tutorial" but also throughout the game. And he probably will have to.

- the background of a thief allows an easier introduction of all kinds of enemies and allies the player might have made in the past.

...Thief.

I must agree with The Storyteller 01's assessment, and logic.

Thief it is then... I like it much more myself...but again, it means more work to do for me

However! Thanks for you're participation and ideas.

Another question:

Would anyone be interested in a segment pack including 30 - 40 segments of the quality displayed above for a price tag of 4,99 Dollar?
