I saw the price tag and it was only $30 and I was like, whoaaaaa you gotta be kiddin me. Then I thought about how all other game engines cost like several hundred $$$ and I was like....hmmm, well this one might be a rip off.

So is this one a good engine to atleast start off with cos I've never used a game engine before, other than Gamemaker and that was years ago.

DBPro (if that's what you are talking about) is not a game engine - It's a programming language.

I suggest you try it out, at a grand cost of 'nothing' to see if it's something you may be able to use: http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2000&page=free

It's a full version of the compiler (the ads appear in the editor only), so you can also install the free plug-ins that add extra commands.

If you decide it's what you want, then you can get the ad-free version with a whole set of extra plug-ins and supporting programs for a very cheap price.

Ohh. I meant the regular Darkbasic http://www.amazon.com/Enteractive-DarkBASIC-3D-Games-Creator/dp/B00005V57T/ref=sr_1_10?s=software&ie=UTF8&qid=1299962371&sr=1-10. I was wondering if that was a good game maker. and okay I'll try out the links you sent.

Ah, that's what we call DarkBASIC Classic, or DBC. It's the predecessor to DBPro, is based on an earlier version of DirectX, is not a expandable as DBPro, and is not actively maintained any more.

Despite all that, it still has quite a following: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_read&i=10
There was even a long-awaited game release a few weeks ago (Soul Hunter) which should answer any questions about DBC's capabilities.

In addition (and you may not have noticed this), but DBC is a part of that 'Dark Game Studio Bonanza' (the second link I gave).
