I have decided to make a WIP to show how I am getting along with my entry

I have made custom segments using hi-res doom textures. The only bad thing about it was that it meant i had to be entered to the Modern-Remake list, but I'm going to try and make this look as close to the original as possible!

Story

The player takes the role of a marine (unnamed to further represent the person playing), "one of Earth's toughest, hardened in combat and trained for action", who has been incarcerated on Mars after assaulting a senior officer when ordered to fire upon civilians. There, he works alongside the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC), a multi-planetary conglomerate and military contractor performing secret experiments on interdimensional travel. Recently, the teleportation has shown signs of anomalies and instability, but the research continues nonetheless.

Suddenly, something goes wrong and creatures from hell swarm out of the teleportation gates on Deimos and Phobos. A defensive response from base security fails to halt the invasion, and the bases are quickly overrun by monsters; all personnel are killed or turned into zombies.

A military detachment from Mars travels to Phobos to investigate the incident. The player is tasked with securing the perimeter, as the assault team and their heavy weapons are brought inside. Radio contact soon ceases and the player realizes that he is the only survivor. Being unable to pilot the shuttle off of Phobos by himself, the only way to escape is to go inside and fight through the complexes of the moon base.

I want to get the 3D models from the Jdoom resource pack, but they are in a strange .DMD format and don't know what opens a .DMD file
Can anyone help?

And I'm sure I don't have enough money to hire a freelancer to model a baron or pinky

About your decal related problem, I guess the decal is currently your entity ?

Did you tried to use a simple plane model with the animated shader from Bond1 ?



If i remember correcly, the wall texture used in right and left rooms (the ones where you find a shotgun and a chaingun) is the fourth of the picture

It's not, I've been running doom-builder as well to help with the textures and layout.

Correct, the texture variation is only present in GBA, PSX and Jaguar Doom, hehe.

I'm having problems with a model.
I made a pentagram in Cartography Shop and exported it as a .x file.
It does not react with light, so I thought the normals might be gliched.
I corrected the normals in Fragmotion and tried again, again it wouldn't react with light.

I have attached the file and tell me if you too get the problem or if you can figure out how to fix it.

good frame rates matter... and a low ping might help XD

You are talking about characters like this right? Because if you are I have a whole zip file of md2 characters that would be farely simple to convert using blender for your game. Send me an email if you are interested. Make sure to put "doom models" in the subject line so I don't delete it by accident.

What do you think?

I have a problem.
Why do scenery pieces made in CartographyShop4 not react with lighting in FPSC?
I tried again at the pentagram, this time I made walls, but I still get no light reaction.

I hope you are still working on this, cuz I have been working on the animations for your characters. Here is the walk animation for the baron. I used clips from doom to match the animations as close I could, but I also added a head bob to the walk to give it I'm bad look. Enjoy!

Yes I'm still working on it (I haven't been doing much work on it lately, I have a History Project due in on the same date as this ).

I don't see how there would be a problem with doing so.

I have the overlay for the gun to give it the wood stock ect.
All you'd need to do is put the MCS870's texture on the bottom layer and you'd have the wood.
Is it safe to distribute?

as long as you dont distribute any of EAI's textures you should be fine. but i myself would suggest no realising anything as it makes your games more unique i was just making sure that i didnt want you to feel robbed of your idea. I am more than capable of making a retexture similar though, just wanted to make sure. So again, i suggest keeping it all to yourself buddy

I've tested ragdolls on the baron and.....

No, they are VERY glichy,(Hilarious though) its like the lipsync ragdolls 10X worse

Time for some screenies

I have the barons and pinkies now so I have decided to show you guys.

The pinkies have currently got a slimy shine to them, that I quite like.


But I then tried to see what they'd look like with a dull skin tone and I didn't really like it.


I got this screenshot of the Pinky in action (I think it looks sad)

The Pinkies are great, the script Starmind001 gave me works really well. But he told me to use it on The barons too. But the script is for melee only any my attempts to make a fireball throwing script have failed so I might stick with a stock one.

Looks really good. I like the pinky monster you got there and the shotgun retex looks very DOOM-like. And that HUD, oh my god. What handsome god among men created that? :y

The pinkies are a bit bigger than in Doom you have to scale them to 80 or 70 percent (in my opinion)

Unfortunately my entry may not be uploaded by the deadline. The file I'm trying to upload is a 1Gb .7z (7zip file), containing a .zip file with my entry inside. I started uploading 2 hours ago and is at 16% currently. Should it normally be this slow? Is there any way to fix the problem?

I've given it the highest compression on 7-ZIP and it is 172Mb
The uncompressed version is 5.4GB!!!
