Heres my first sci fi model,wich resembles a craft from microsoft's
Hell Bender,its like 200 poly,unskiined,you will have to do that.

cheers I might just use that. I'm working on a rather retro looking project at the moment - I'm not even textureing everything, just using vertex colors. I was going to have to make/find/bribe someone to make some really simple flying things and that looks very much like what I was thinking of.
