I am a total noob at programming and am just doing the basic tutorials in darkbasic, how long do you think it will take me to learn drakbasic and begin games programming?

Well, firstly it depends on you and how fast you learn. Second as you are a total noob at programming at all it will take some time before you grasp the fundamentals of programming (variables, arrays, loops...). But to really be a good programmer you have to use the language for about 5-6 months as nothing can substitute the experience but again it depends on you. Just keep in mind that DB is a great for a start.

Here's a thought for you. Before you can begin game programming, you have to start game designing. And, before you can start game designing, you need to understand what the language can do for you. This means there's a book learning phase, followed by an implimentation phase. Allong the way, there are side trips to learn about 2D and 3D graphics programs.

It is a journey, but a rewarding one.
