Hi guys,

I have - as you probably noticed - joined the community today, and I'm quite impressed after seeing powerfull Dark GDK is. The problem is however, I've never ever touched anything in the c++ world, having c# recommened as long as I can remember.
I was just clicking around this forum, when I discovered a post discussing the possibilities for Dark GDK in vb 2010, when someone wrote something about Dark GDK in C# (.NET). How is this possible, and if, would it be possible with the 2010 version of C#?

I'm aware that a game in C# would take some more computing power than one created in C++. Though I don't think this would be a major problem, this being my hobby.

My Situation:
OS: Win 7 64 bit.
Programs: C# 08 and 10, C++ 08 and 10 (I've done the prebuild in all| all is express versions)
DirectX version: dxsdk_aug2007.exe
Dark GDK: Installed after dxsdk_aug2007.exe

The wizard only shows up in c++ 08, not even the c++ 10.

Thanks in advance,

MutatioMath

I have found that c++ is much easier to learn than c#. So, if you learned c#, you should have no problem learning c++.
See cplusplus.com and msdn.
Also, you need to get the 2010 libs if you want to use the dgdk with vc++ 2010. However I don't use these so all I know is that they substantially more buggy right now than the libs for 08.
There should be a thread about them on the dgdk portion of this site.

I know dgdk.net isn't free right now, but I am not entirely sure what it is, either. If you are looking to make games in c#, though, there is the xna game studios.

PS (little known fact) If you are a student of a college you can get vs pro. 2008 and 2010 free from dreamspark.com

There is a Dark GDK .NET forum section just under the Dark GDK section on the main forum page, there you can get more information.

The .NET version is a separate product and it's not free. It seems the current requirement is Visual Studio 2008, although the author made a post in February on the above-mentioned forum, saying that he'll move over to 2010 in the future. Here is the product page.
