i recently purchased DBPro... but i havent recieved it yet...

my question is this, and the help files for the demo doesnt clarify this... what exactly is a MESH? i have worked with other 3D programs and they have something called a static mesh... which a static mesh is a single object that can be placed into a 3D space numerous times... but the graphics card only needs to load it once... all vertices, texture, color, etc...

i know this speeds up games... this is what the Unreal engine uses... if anyone can help me out on this it will be greatly appreciated

Well, you could load an .X model as a mesh, then simply CREATE OBJECT Objno,Meshno,Textureno would create an object - no good for animated object though. There's clone object too, but I don't think that's supported anymore.

A mesh is a 3D object made up of polygons, this object may contain an animation... A static mesh is a mesh with no animation data...

a mesh in dbp unlike db, is simply a memory based version of an single object.

it cannot be animated or have limbs, infact they're annoyingly useless but at the same time essential to certain operations.
Unlike the Memblock Mesh you cannot actually edit anything within the dbp Mesh ... dbp Objects are the only visible object.

in db the case was that a mesh was the go between object outside of the object pipeline whereas an object was a pipeline based object.

all quite confusing, but you won't need them until you get better and more confident enough to try the memblocks or internal object structuring - at which point you'll understand just as much as anyone else what they are.
