Now, I have started MANY dead ends on the forum, and I apologize for the vaporware. I re-commenced the production process for shatterpoint as well as created a defined look for the game. This is not another dead end! A playthrough of two definite levels (without weapons or enemies) has been completed and will be available this week. I'm just finishing up menus and loading screens. The game has not received a complete overhaul, It's just like where I left off, with the beautiful synthetic reality texture art + more! And so, here is a poster of the levels which will be made available this week.

And so, let your journey into the city begin.
But watch out, the clean up started by the Iron Martyrs is looking for you!

Special thanks to Abul Ahad for flying the Shatterpoint banner during the disappointing time between the last post and this one!

Hey your kind of like me lol. I have started a couple games and not really finished them either...But im still working on them undercover, so to speak "wink". I just sometimes can't keep up with updating either...

But don't worry, people start never finish projects all the time.

On topic, I love your Shatterpoint game as well! The ambience and especially the careful work on the textures really ties together the whole look in a really unique way. But the only crit I have is to possibly lower the shininess of some of the pipe's speculat maps a little bit (not a ton) because the bloom makes it really intense. But overall your doing a great job

I will check up on that. Meanwhile, thanks for your comments. I love it that you like the new look. It is meant to be eye candy. Of course it also strays away from the shiny look. Guys, most of this look is created by the speculars. Being creative with speculars is an extremely valuable tool, and personallly, I love specular maps that have absolutely nothing to do with the D or D2.

Everything looks really nice, except for the box in second picture (Right side). It may need a shader or something, it looks kind of lit up and out of place...

But everything looks very nice! What fps do you normally get on something this detailed? Do you have a old computer or a super computer? Just wondering of course!

I get around 22-30 fps on my crap computer with the build. On the test it was like 16-22 which was crap. All the levels are enclosed which boosts the frames strongly. Look for the download tomorrow!

Oh, and thanks again abul ahad!

everything is meant to fit together semi-seamlessly

This is some......interesting texture work in my opinion.

I remember the other Shatterpoint WIP threads you've opened, and while they've always looked pretty good, these screenshots blow them away. Some of the best outdoor scenes I've seen on the forums, and definitely notable for the overall look.

It almost gives off a Half-Life 2/Portal type of feel. Can't wait for the alpha build.

Thank you Bugsy, Loler, and Dar13. I hope you enjoy playing, because here it is!

Can't read the long messages on the loading screens? that's why you play through it again. Or, go to the backdrops and open the jepeg image.

Just decompress everything and copy all of the files from part 2 and paste them in the files folder in part 1. It works perfectly and has been tested. I didn't use a complicated installer, because those tend to cause problems on my pc.

Thanks a lot 2 Rouges, the Demo was awesome! I would say that you maybe put to many shaders on everything. But other than that i loved the level design, and the detail you put into it!

Very nice job good sir, very nice!

EDIT - Do you know where i might find those lights in the 6th picture on the right. The ones that are placed in drop ceilings, or did you make them yourself? Just wondering of course!

Thanks a lot 2 Rogues, The pack is awesome! I can use all of the stuff in my game right? Thanks again!

EDIT - Now i feel stupid, i downloaded it and i read the instructions. I know it's for beginners but i still don't understand what to do. Do i have to use the FPSC entity maker to create the entities using the .x files and the texture files? Thanks!

Wow! My puny laptop ran that at 20fps! HOW? If I had that level in fpsc it would run at 5fps! How does it run so well, but look so nice?

However I got stuck in the second level where you jump onto the air conditioners and whatever.
The third air conditioner had glitched collision, I just slid off it.

The meshes for the segments are from Metro Theater. and if I'm not mistaken, they all have collision-less and invisible floors for their mid and top segments, therefore, each layer of outdoor is contained in it's own set of invisible geometry and therefore, takes up less processing. Did you run it on full shading? If so, I'm even impressed! I guess I finally accomplished something!

Ahhh, by the stairs to the basement I presume? That can be found in the metro theater pack. Those can be fun, but one should know that those should not be overused.

well, it didn't seem to stop you. Most of my playtesters couldn't make the jump and it took them forever to complete it. I did however notice the issue. while it isn't bugged, it simply has to do with the alcove, which will be switched to a flat wall mesh for the final product. this is simply so that the air conditioning unit will stand out more and make the jump easier.

It would not let me open the game. It gave me a error that had to do with "genre". I was looking forward to playing the game though.

Very nice 2 rogues. Played it and I must say I love the design entirley. With a custom hud and other some other things you will have a top quality game. I think its safe to say the whole community has been looking forward to you releasing something like this.

I personaly think the shaders went really well. This game almost has a really synthetic sci-fi feeling to it. Almost like, a more sci-fi version of bio shock. I hope to see some epic sci-fi combat.

Update:

This would be a warehouse-ish place, but with the amount of different stuff thrown in, it just looks like it's not any particular type of place. But still, it is located in the same city as the alpha plays through, so it displays similar models and texture style.

Looks really nice mate!

I don't know, but the first screenshot's lighting doesn't look up par with the other screenshots. How about editing some of the values for the blue down there or lowering the ambient light?

The first screenshot was the screenshot from 2 or 3 years ago when I was working on a very old build of shatterpoint. This is meant to show what this scene has looked like through progression as I liked it very much and decided to keep the design.
