Hi all, seems like years since I uploaded a WIP, and as my latest game is almost done I thought I'd make a little video and upload it here. It's in 2 parts, but the 2nd part won't be uploaded until tonight, damn video editing software is kaput, so just uploaded it... sorry about the lack of sound, but AVI to YouTube seems to have some issues.

I will get a demo uploaded as soon as I can.

As soon as I saw "VanB" in the author column I knew this would be good.

!!!!!!!!!!!

I've always wanted Bubble Puzzle 97 back. But it doesn't work on modern operating systems, this will be a good substitute: I used to play it endlessly as a kid. xD

Veeeerrry sweeet, Van B! I like it a lot!
Very stylish artwork. This should sell well on AppUp.
Are you using the 2D box plugin for this? It loox like it. And, how did you make that water? Awesome!

Demo! Demo! Demo!

Cheers

Cheers all

I don't use any plugins on this, it's all fairly straightforward monkey physics. Like the rope is basically a distance restriction on a number of segments, and the water is a fancy smoothing function with some interference. The water is just a fancy plain, like a row of plains, say 64 plains side by side, then the vertices are adjusted to suit a height array.

Great job! The graphics and animation look nicely put together; even the menu buttons look fun to play around with!

The image based text looks cool, I like the way elements shake when something significant happens; much more interesting looking than the lazy man's text command.

I also like the moving background and the variety of levels.

It makes me wonder how this could work as a multiplayer hotseat game with two cannons and some kind of goal orientated challenge; although that would need two more monkeys!

Looking forward to playing the demo.

Rock solid presentation, Van B! Looks and feels like a professional game. Pretty standard gameplay concept, but I bet it plays well!

Thanks all.

The graphics are mostly by Dado Almeida, obviously I'm totally chuffed with the results .

I would like to add multiplayer, but that would probably have to be added later, or if it does well enough, in a sequel.

I'll hopefully have a demo ready this weekend.

Wow, this looks so smooth, slick and polished! Great work!
I hope one day I will get such a nice game finished myself...

Edit:
I'm curious about how long it takes you to build a game with such quality?

Thanks guys. It's just shy of 6,000 lines, that includes the level editor, spacing, comments and stuff. I've been working on this for quite a while, probably about a year - but that's mainly because it's a DBPro / C++ project, so I am learning C++ while developing it. A lot of time has been spent on polish too, in fact I'm just finishing up the last bit of polish (instructions screens).

I will get that demo done as soon as .

Quote: "it's a DBPro / C++ project"

It's made in DarkGDK, or DBPro with C++ plugins?

Anyways it looks very polished. Nice job!

Thanks guys. It's DBPro, no plugins, but I'm also writing an iOS version in C++ (XCode) - which will be identical pretty much. Everything is prototyped in DBPro, and converting that logic into C++ is really not too difficult.
