I think maybe valves old software for halflife 1 used bsp files. I think that was called worldcraft 3.

I really enjoyed using worldcraft, its layout is similar to cartography shop. and if you pick up an old copy of halflife 1 you can compile and run the maps really fast.

I think the new hammer editor may also be able to do it, I just found it to be a pain in the butt installing halflife 2 just to use hammer.

hope that helps

I remember that when I bought the original DarkBASIC Pro, included a small application to convert from .x to BSP but it was to limited... no lights. I have used the one Kezzla suggested hammere editor or Quark and they are free. That was when collision was difficult to get, but now a day you can use Sparky's that goes super with any .x level.

Cheers.

BSP is kindof old-school and it seems like it has not received much support for some time, although the compatibility is still there within DBP. It seems like there was an issue with it that never got resolved, but I cannot remember what it was.

If you are looking to create a world within DBP, there are other ways of creating it, whether using Advanced Terrain (built into DBP), using a modeling program to create an .x or .3ds file, FPSC, etc.

Fpsc and 3D World Studio are ok ...in my opinion I think hammer and Quark are rather for commercial programs, and they are not so easy to use when we are beginers.BSP still exist, but in commercial games. I think if we are goning to use our levels in Darkbasic Pro, we had better use other format like .x You could try aswell with Deled and mapscape both free and with the ability of lightmapping.

Cheers.

My favorite is Valve's Hammer editor. It comes with most source engine purchases, you can occasionally get items on sale for a couple of bucks.

Even when not on sale Half Life 2 is only 9.99 ; great game & great editor for 10 bux.

The reason its my favorite above all is that its WELL DOCUMENTED and thousands and thousands of people use it and make tutorials for it.

Theres nothing like using a nice but obscure program and being stuck with no one to answer your questions is there?
