Hi, i was reading over the sprites tutorial on the website but i'm not yet certain about what a sprite is.

Is there anyplace i've overlooked perhaps that explains this clearly and what the purposes of sprites are?

a sprite is a 2d image that you can manipulate kind of like a 3d object....

for example, you can make them move or animate them. any 2d video game is filled with sprites
