Dear all,

My code...

Doesn't seem to show the drawn arrow or the text, even though I have the SYNC command after them both.

However, if you take un-rem the sync above the TEXT command, it seems to work.

Can anyone tell me why please?

Many thanks.

sync is meant to be used in a loop. I think the first time it's called, it performs some setup operations. I always call "sync" right after I say "sync on".

I think a lot of people have had trouble with this before.

Why does blue text appear every time you are near?

Thank you, both.

If SYNC does indeed do some original setup during its first execution, it would certainly explain why it's required more than once (or in a loop).

...and here's the line from the help file I'm usually so quick to criticise, "It is important to note the very first SYNC will only render the back buffer and reveal the contents of that buffer on the second SYNC command, as the system is based on a double buffered refresh."

This makes perfect sense.

Thanks again.
