Are there any FREE modelling programs that export as .x and can be animated easily within the program? Can any1 sugest a program?

Well you can use it for commercial use but good luck exporting an animated .x file.

Maybe he doesn't want to use them for commercial, and only needs a modeler for commercial projects.

Kinda left us in a hole here though on info. Gmax is probebly the best for "free". Maybe try milkshape for $20, or Truespace 3.2 for free.

There's a million posts like this, so might I recommend a 3D section search?

...if you're looking for a free 3d modeler that you've never used before, you're probably not going to sell your game.

Gmax is hell. Along with sending users on a wild goose chase for a plugin that hardly exists, the legal ramifications of its use in commercial and shareware products are questionable at best, and on top of all that it is far, far too complex for a beginner programmer to get into.

Milkshape is excellent for beginning modellers. The 30 day trial gives them enough time to get the hang of basic modelling and decide whether or not to buy it, or try out the much more nightmarish Gmax.

I find Gmax easier then milky since all the buttons are there(but then again, I've had some exp with max-which is basically the same)

this brings me back to a question i asked not too long ago.

IS GMAX POSSIBLE TO USE FOR COMERCIAL STUFF????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

some say yes you can and some say no you can't, I need an official statement... PLS...*100

i like gmax but it never exports as .x or .3ds which makes it point less

Go to the website and e-mail someone, I am sure they will tell you.
You can't use it to export .x or .3ds so whats the point in usin it?
