My knowledge there is very limited.

THIS is one of the coolest ideas I have seen in a while.

What are you using for making textures? I know Photoshop can import 3D files and unwrap the UV.

That is because you are gifted with scripting knowledge!

Glad you like the idea. I am bored of running around with an endless arsenal of weapons! Lets make it interesting! two different types of ammo - normal (lasers/bullets) and, explosive - (no explanation needed). Limited ammo supplies, so you have to think about when and where is the best place to use which ammo. You will always have a melee weapon to hand, just in case!

I am using Gimp. I can't afford or justify spending that amount of money on a program! Especially when i can download one that is VERY similar for free. (same with Blender) I can crack software's and get most things form free thanks to some very clever people on the internet, but, that's just not me! I'm not stealing someones software! They will have spent hours, days, weeks and even years into it! Why would i want to take all that hard work for free!

Sorry, went on a bit of a mad one!

Doh! I don't come onto the WIP forum nearly often enough.

First of all...wow, looking great!

Are you still having problems with the shader? It must be declared in the FPE. Please email me if you are having any problems.

Keep going! Great stuff.

@Budo - I watched that tut. Thanks man! I have learnt now that I need to basically make seams all over my model and then unwrap it to make sure that none of it distorts the texture. There is probably a much easier way to do it, but, I will learn this over time.

@Srealist - Thanks for the comment and thanks for the shader. It does work well, but, I started messing with too many things and messed some stuff up! Ooops. School boy error.

Am I correct in saying that shader only works on dynamic entities?

I really hope so!

I was speaking with the misses last night and i was telling her all the things that i still need to do! WOW! i decided to write them down on a pad, almost like a checklist. Kinds wish i hadn't now! haha. I have become obsessed with trying to model now as well! So, instead of spending vital time on this, i am messing around with blender! But, I am now focused back on this.

I don't think i am going to be able to implement the destructible environments in time, but, i am only going to be working on a three level demo. I will continue to work on it afterwards!

I thought that i would treat you all to a few more screen shots of what I am working on. If not to reiterate that i am still working on it and will NOT be dropping this project.

They aren't the most exciting screenshots in the world with not a great lot going on. They are up to show you the general feel and layout i am going for.

Plus to show off my very own custom light! I am so proud!

As always, crits and comments please.

I'm a little confused as to why you'd take the dinosaurs out. I went ahead and uploaded the originals for people to get a good idea of what the final game will look like:

The screens look good, though I'm not sure what you mean by "your own custom light".

Haha! Budo! I just spat my breakfast everywhere! They actually look pretty good! Might have to implement dinosaurs! The custom light I speak of is the fluorescent tube on the walls. Its my very own model! Very simple, but I really like the effect.

Ah, okay. Yeah, the model does look good, fits in well. Did you get your texturing issues all sorted out?

I did sort out my texturing issues.........kind of.

I had to uninstall Blender and reinstall it again in order to be able to export the models as directX files. Big pain, but, it's sorted now.

I just need to get better at texturing now and I will be off! I want to produce a really nice pack for the community, but, i need to get better before i could even dare put any of my stuff up!!

Hello Everyone!!

I am back with a few new screens for you!

I have been very busy trying to get everything in place for this deadline that is creeping ever closer!

I have been working on a new weapon for my game. Not the SciFi pistol above, something much better.......much cooler......definitely has that, "Oh my god, I just did that with this"?!?!

Anyway, the weapon will not be released until my demo is released. Which will have to be soon due to the DTO comp.

I digress,

Here are the newest screens, sorry if they are a bit dark, the actual gameplay is not as dark as the screen shots.

Starting room for level 5

Corridor out of starting room

Laser Beams I have created to keep you at bay!!

Some more corridor bits

As always, comments and crits more than welcome.

I will need some beta testers that will have the time to test my game soon.

If you are interested, please contact me either on here or via email.

Looks good. Though, for the last one, why is there a light leaning against the wall, and it's on?

I'll help beta test.

The light isnt supposed to look as though its just leaning. It us meant to look like it is part if the support. It is supposed to be on. I might try a different light entity on the support post.

You can always beta test this mate. You have helped me a LOT throughout, so, I feel as though you deserve first look.

This looks great, and I laughed at the dinosaur screens!
Fact: Every game is 100 times cooler when you throw dinosaurs in. Hell, EVERY game should have dinosaurs in them!!!

Looks great. Camera movement could have been a bit smoother, but that's no big deal, the editing was done well. I do have to say that I'm really confused about the photon glove. What was going on with it, why was that blue spark shooting straight up from it?

Budo, thanks for the comments.

Does the glove look weird? The blue sparks are supposed to be like a blue electric muzzleflash. I must be too used to it now. I will edit it again before I release the beta. To be honest, I dont know why they sparks fly upwards, that is something I need to change, but have never worked out how to. I might need to get back in contact with EAI.

Unfamillia

Ps, sorry for the lack of dinosaurs.

EDIT: Fixed the muzzleflash now. Just changed it to a black smoke decal. looks much better. I will upload a new video soon.

Errm....well, i am doing ok. I have finished all my 2D art. Just fine tuning some of the AI to make it slightly more realistic.

One minor problem though......I tried to do a test run of the game (for beta test) and tried to 'build' the game twice, both times crashing X10!!

Don't really know what it's doing.

I will keep you posted about this and will put up images of the errors i get to see if you know what it is.

I'll try building a game when I get home, I'll see if I get the same problem.

Ok, after numerous errors, bugs and general problems, I have managed to

finish the demo.

There are still a few bugs that need crushing, but, i just wanted to get

something ready for people to play.

Known bugs:

When the video plays on the first level, the music from the menu screen is

still playing.

When pressing 'E' on the PDA the game loads the 'eyehud.png' (damage HUD)

In level 3, you start in the middle of nowhere........just let yourself die

and you will be placed inside the level where you should be.

There may be a few more bugs. I am in the process of trying to crush them

all, but, i needed to get an actual game built.

Thoughts and feedback is always wanted and appreciated.
