Because of how the original engine is designed the way you would like to see your inventory system presented is not available. I tried to think of doing it the way you would like but it was going to require a lot more coding time and code. So, I compromised. However, I do like how it works. Also, there are the availability of showing up to 12 different huds and this probably could be utilized along with the inventory system. You just wouldn't be able to click on an item. You have to remember that FPSC is not going to get you a lot of customized features that resemble today's game capabilities. If you want that then you need to get DarkBasic Pro and program your game from scratch.

Just to clarify. I did develop RPGmod. Ched80 has not written any of the code. At least not yet. However, he is now supporting it and he may create some of his own features within it.

EDIT:

You are able to bring up all the inventory items either using icons or text. You are then able to click on the inventory item. A left click will give you information regarding the item and a right click will allow you to perform an action with the item.

Use RPG Mod and create a world filled with adventure!

try something like declaring a hud to show in the bottom left or something then saying ifplrhaskey then showhud. If you have more than one item then make them in different places on the screen (probably right beside each other)

I appear to have burst into flames...

You can actually do this, just trigger an image as soon as you pick up a certain object and deactivate it as soon as you used the object again.

I'm still amazed by those it has now.

@Fpsc bugs fix !: Look, I have a rather good Inventory System in Relict, (no mod required). Its not done yet and has bugs but as soon as I have it finished, I get a simplified version of it out for free.
This might take ages though,I wont lie to you.

...and dude, change your nickname xD

Funny you mention that. We built an inventory system in a script, and as you use certain items, a small icon appears on the screen showing that item in use. It's the small "visuals" that we like producing.

Although RPG Mod has an inventory system (the concept is a great design by the creator), you can build one without the use of mods. Regardless if you use or not use a mod, you will need a very good understanding of the scripting for either approach. Our one development has sixteen plus items in the inventory, all scripted in one script so it can be done with a bit of patience and knowledge.

I'm still waiting for it to tie into my coffee maker for those long development days/nights.
