Hey yous guys, I'm working on a game, and have made great progress. But I'd reeaaally love to do custom class systems, I have Vis Studio Pro (which I think I'll make the interface on, writing to the text files of each class)
is there an FPI script or keyword to import another script

also: if anyone has already made a create-a-class system, could anyone foward me to them? thanks!

There is an FPI command to make a script run another script: RUNFPI=[script name, w/o brackets]

If you want to use your own scripts in your game, you will have to have to copy them into the "scriptbank" directory in the main FPSC directory.

Does that answer your question? Let us know if it doesn't, we'll see if we can answer it.

bobbyisthebest: Unfortunately, FPSC multiplayer games do not have capabilities like this yet and they also do not allow scripts to be run in order to save resources.

There is an easier way to do it without any coding. You can only make pre-set classes though, without letting the user pick out of a variety. You can make 3 rooms at the start of the level for each team or whatever game mode it is, and make a trigger zone in the doorway of each room, that has the weapons in it for the class, and make it so that when you go to that room, the door cannot be opened again to pick a different class, and players always respawn there. Hope I helped

Happy Holidays!

That's a good idea AMF!
You could also do it like you said, but have one section of rooms for a primary, then when they choose one, the other doors lock. And a section for a secondary, so on and so forth.

alright, thanks guys

lolz, i din't know people responded until now, i guess i don't have email reply fowarding yet

@skeeter: I know, stereotypical of a noob, but i do have a background in both programming and game dev-ing (doin it since I was about 6, i think Game Maker, some other stuff, and my first favorite, POWERPOINT!!! )

@bobbyisthebest: yes, i may also include it in a survival singleplayer mode too... see my reply to captain coder too...

@Captain Coder: thanks, it helps A LOT! so i can make a program that generates an fpi based on a template, while inserting code that picks up the class setup items that are in an unreachable area on the map. and as for multiplayer, the force is strong with my troubleshooting I'm gonna be working with my national award-winning coder buddies to help me mod the engine.

@AMF: Great idea, doesn't quite fit the theme my current project has, but is a great idea for a future project. Thanks man!

@Cross Hair Games: good too, once again a great idea for a future project (i want to eventually kind of repopularize classic-style fast paced fps games)
