How can I attempt this without having the picked up weapon hud and sound appear? I want the player to start with his fists and a hand gun

Assign the first weapon to the player via the start marker, then put the other gun somewhere in the level where the player can't reach and assign it this script:


NOTE: This also works with ammo.

you can just put a gun right on the player's spawn point and he'll pick it up

I appear to have burst into flames...

NIlooc223 didn't want the HUD to display when it is picked up, so just putting a weapon on the start marker wouldn't suffice.

just edit the script so that it doesn't show the weapon pickup hud
