I'm a little leery of this "competition" considering you have a couple other threads out here asking for help on what should be fairly simple scripts. I'm not saying I'm an expert scripter, or that this is a bogus competition. I'm just a little leery is all.

If you get backing from some of the long-standing members on this competition, and maybe give some information on what scripts are included in your pack....maybe.

Can you give us an idea of what scripts are in this pack that you are offering as a prize?

And what about competition rules, entry deadline, and all of the fine print that we need for this?

And this, combined with your recent posting looking for help with scripts, makes me think this competition is bogus and just an attempt by you to get scripts for free.

Nothing personal, but I don't see anything that makes me think otherwise. And on top of it all, we're supposed to just email you scripts? So then how do we know who "wins" and why?

I don't want to be mean or rude, so I'll just keep quiet for now.

I will not use the scripts unless they either give permission for me to use them or they release them for free.

And i will post who wins and it will be based on how complex and easy to use the script is.

@Leon Kennedy

I can vouch for Gozzy1999. He has made some pretty awesome scripts, check out my top post on this thread: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=194764&b=24

He has made s computer hack script (For entities), and stuff like that. He is getting pretty good, and he will keep his word, trust me. And don't be so harsh. I don't like it when people flame other's on things that they should not be flamed on.

@Gozzy1999

It would be a good idea to post what the reward will be. This would make it less leery.

smg,
sniper,
shotgun,
rocketlauncher,
mp40(all of stock guns)

and that will be the prize for winner

I was not being harsh, nor was I flaming him. I stated, as calmly and as cooly as possible:

Quote: "And this, combined with your recent posting looking for help with scripts, makes me think this competition is bogus and just an attempt by you to get scripts for free.

I stated that due to his recent looking for help with what should be easy scripts made me think that this may not be on the up-and-up. And when I asked what the prize would be, I was met with:

Quote: "The Deadline is 1st April 2012
the scripts are a suprise and still in the making
"

and:

Quote: "And i will post who wins and it will be based on how complex and easy to use the script is."

I asked for information, and got nothing. What am I supposed to think?

Classify what as information, exactly? A vague response that told me nothing and didn't answer the question?

I'm being reminded more and more why I left the community and FPSC 3 years ago. Every time I post, I get flamed and harassed. And for what? For asking questions, wanting clarification, and giving my honest opinion?

Methinks I should leave the community again...

i gave what the script was for,any script to go in an entity(could be anything,
i gave the prize,
Quote: "i am working on some gun and ammo pickup scripts,

Yeah, you gave that information AFTER someone else posted that you should give out the prizes and such. When I asked for it, I got:

Quote: "the scripts are a suprise and still in the making"

So you either intentionally didn't give me the information I asked about, or you are intentionally forgetting that you intentionally didn't give me the information I asked about.

I never asked what the competition was about, and I saw that you gave the original deadline of 1 April 2012. But the prizes? Well, you couldn't be bothered to give that information out until someone else asked for it.

As far as offending people - too bad. I don't post with the intention of offending someone, or irritating them, or anything like that. I asked simple, direct questions, and provided my uneasiness with the competition based on a lack of information. How in the heck is that offensive? And if someone gets offended by something I post, well, that's just too bad. I'm not going to live my life in fear of someone else getting tweaky over something I say on an internet forum.

As for my leaving - that's not for you to decide.

firstly at the time you asked i wasn't sure what i was going to use as the prizes and i didn't decide for you i just simply stated that you shoulden't not that you wouldent't.
Quote: "As far as offending people - too bad."

that says alot about the person you are.

I call Shenanigans. You knew darned well what the prize was going to be and intentionally declined to answer my question. Based on the following:

Quote: "the winner will recieve my new pack of script that i am not sharing with anyone else but the winner."

Quote: "but i have others that are better than those and its a script pack there will be at least 15+ scripts in it"

Quote: "the scripts are a suprise and still in the making"
[/quote]

You knew. You just didn't want to say. At least not until someone else stated that you should.

Quote: "that says alot about the person you are."

Really? What does it say? That I'm not concerned about offending other people by the way I live my life? Way to take a shot at me, dude.

To have a successful competition, you need rules.

You should state clearly how people will be competing, what is the criteria upon which it will be judged, who will judge it, what is the time frame, what are the prizes (in most cases you want to actually have prizes before you offer them), etc, etc, etc. All this comes from experience and a good standing in the community.

If I hold a contest and offer some models I will make as a prize, certainly people will want to know that I can model well and have a track record of finishing what I start. Otherwise they would want to see what it is they could win. "It's a surprise" might work for people like EAI and Bond1, but not for me or someone we know little about.

Think your contest through and have all your ducks in a row before announcing it. You'll get a much better reception. As for being offended........

STOP IT!!!!

Brian.

exactly my point!
read very carefully still in the making what is there to say that i had decided what it was going to be about.
Quote: " script pack there will be at least 15+ scripts in it"

so i planned ahead to make 15+scripts leads to me first point
