Okay, here's another small WIP. It's a small game for a community contest.

Started at Friday 2/24/2012 - Time until 3/9/2012 (Around 2 weeks).

We got 5 settings:
Ninjas
Zombis
Mini Skirts
Steampunk
Pirates

We had to chose 2 or more.

Some screenshots of the weekend:

And a video:

Character graphics / Sounds are not the 'real' one. I was just coding this weekend.

Best regards.

Keep the sounds! They're perfect for that!

With a title like "Pirates of the Damned" I was not expecting a sidescrolling shoot 'em up. I like it!

Right...

Teleports: to another section of the level, bounce back and forth
Weapons: really needs those
Enemies: weak through to the toughies
Bonuses: score, points, weapon changes, life boosts, etc
Secrets: just to pickup a mega bonus or a special weapon

Just a few ideas...

Mental arithmetic? Me? (That's for computers) I can't subtract a fart from a plate of beans!
Warning! May contain Nuts!

It's like Contra meets Mario meets Bionic Commando. I love it.

Looks very simple but also really fun. And, although it is not that important, I like the menu.

Oh, nice. For the small amount of time you've spent on it, it looks really good already.

Very nice, sound and graphics are very well done (pretty simplistic but they're doing their job), and generally the gameplay is good as well.
The only thing that irritated me was the AI, because there doesn't seem to be a way to beat those enemies without getting hit by their bullets. A small tactical enhancement (if they have to reload regularly for example, or if there's a small delay between them seeing you and starting to shoot) would be great and make the fighting much more rewarding, in my opinion.

And on a minor note, I needed some time to find out how to navigate through the menu (WASD and selection using E or something? Not too intuitive ).
