What is the difference between DBPro and DBC other than more commands in DBPro, because I try to open code in DBPro that was written for DBC and I get lots of different errors.

there are a bunch of new commands, syntax changes, enhancements so you would have to modify the dbc code to get it working in dbp. DBP way better than dbc IMHO

stability is subjective. I find it very stable-no problems, other users have had serious problems but it seems contained to XP. I am running 2000 Pro - seems pretty rock solid

Never used windows 98, but I run on XP Professional. Never once have I had irregular crashing. Seems that DBP is very stable now.

DBpro seems pretty stable, but there are a few bus that need fixed or ironed out. For example sprite animation. Also there are a few project that are on hold till the next full patch comes out.
I would still buy DBpro if I were in you shoes, over DB.

I haven't used 98 to develop in dbp but I have run exe's from 98 and all seem ok - no probs, so I'd say it should be ok for you (keep in mind I was using 98 not me or se)
