Hey fellow coders! i've got a few questions to ask of you! new to db but i figured someone could help me with this:
I've been working on my engine for little over a month, but it seems as though i'm redoing code over and over again, right now, i'm practically staring at a blank project again, not frustrated, just with no idea on where to start. This is where you come in, to be honest i'm looking for a little help with the engine itself, maybe a good starting point to let my brain flow. I've built a 3d world using my own textures in the world builder, had it added to the program, then stopped the coding to make more textures, sprites and animations.
I've got documents written up for the game, and as i'm doing it as a hobby, i'm just doing little parts at a time. I'll pay for your time working on the engine, if its a fair price . Attached is my document, explaining my idea.. I'm kind of embarrassed by my code at the moment so i will not be putting it in the file. Your input is very helpful.
I know it seems like alot, but its something i've been itching to do for quite awhile now. Even helpful code snippets will do wonders for me, Radials will come up with options of the 3d sprite targeted, the sprite/animation is made. I don't need multi to work in it quite yet as i'm still learning the concept of darknet. Thanks (sorry if its the wrong forum, i just figured since i'm new to the board this spot works?)

Have you had a look at this?

The Game Creators Forum / Game Design / RPG Creation: A Technical Guide:
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=89100&b=19

It could prove invaluable to your project. I've just downloaded your docs, unzipped them, and will look them over after dinner.

No problem -- just happened to be looking through it myself before I read your post. It is a very well done set of guidelines -- it should certainly come in handy.

Good Luck!

Tannjc

I've had a look at all of your documents. May I suggest compiling them into One Document to Rule Them All and do a little proofreading? I can certainly help if you'd like.

yeah! DAEvo, that would great if you helped me! Remember that its all in a basic design, i'm always open for additions. even as your reading them i had made a few more designs, right now i'm working on preliminary art. - Once a week politicians have the ability to change the dynamics of the PvP on the planet where they own a city, it will be based on a voting system, and will appear on the mission terminal for the combat players, Pre generated missions as well as Simply placing a waypoint on a map or player town on where the politician will attack! the farther into the documents i go, i change designs and create new.
So yes daevo, you can help in anyway that you can.

Tannjc just saying take it easy on making a team request ^^ would hate for your thread to get locked

as DAEvo has suggested, a single document would probably be better such as PDF, you can export from Office using a PDF exporter which is built into Office 2010... [well my business edition has it... ]

I shall have a read and if there is anything funky you would like to do with this I would like to help out, perhaps run this as a blog maybe?

my project might also be of interest to you too its on Computer Game Design...

EDIT

Correcting a typo in bold

Thanks for the warning valentine! i'm not really after a team of course, just some suggestions and help, always open for some. I appreciate what input i've got so far, it's helped alot sorry if that last post seemed as though it was a team request; That is not my intention. One person can't generate enough ideas, or come up with a better solution is some cases, thats all i meant by that post, i've just read it over and laughed, cause now i can see why it looks that way! Thanks for the idea on making it a blog instead. Looking forward to seeing what i should do.

Let the record show that Tannjc has never solicited my help, I simply offered my assistance. He is/was not building a team and I am not part of said team that doesn't exist. My input was no more than others looking at code examples and offering suggestions.

That being said, I just did some basic formatting with OpenOffice and saved it as a Word .doc. Download it with the handy download link there in the bottom right of this post.

You've got a number of spelling, grammar, and capitalization errors, so you may want to sort through that before making the document public or distributing it to your team.

Also, don't show George Lucas.

nice design sheet, my only crit is that theres an awful lot of stuff i there that seems to be lifted straight from the old republic. I'd consider taking alook at it and maybe tweeking it to be better?

Yup, it is still being tweaked, but more of a SWG upgrade than SWTOR, not linear. The combat needs tweaking the most; as the way it is is very basic. But yeah basic is SWTOR lol.

Had a look at your forum -- you're moving right along!

Another tip for you is to get your hands on a Game Guide for a similar game. Not that you need the walkthrough, but the Game Guide often lays out all of the mechanics for combat, damage, ranges for various weapons, and all sorts of things. Stuff you can't even find in the manual!
