I have managed to get quite far on my building knowledge of DBPro in my game so far; however, I have run into a programming headache where I was hoping I could get some assistance from you. There is a screenshot attached. What I am trying to do is when you click on say “Boothby” it will add his name to the list on the bottom of the screen with a max of 30 cards that can be selected.. we are building a player deck at this point so the names that are being selected will also have to be associated the card eventually. I will worry about that when I get there. My main thing is I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get my existing code to absorb this new ability... I feeling like I’m on the cusp of a breakthrough but am just not quite there... here is my mouse over code.. Thanks to zeroSlave...

The tricky part is this bold area... if mc=1 then what? That’s the part I’m drawing a blank on... I know I want to click =(variable), and (variable)=name, and then print the name, if the there is a name listed then print the name in the next line down.. Would I use types for this? If so would it be best to build a database of the player cards with all of their attributes, and then pull just the info needed? I went through the player cards and this is what the types would look like...

Is this my best route or would I be better off trying something new? Thanks for any help!!

I mc=1 add the card data to deck slot 1?

as far as the data types youd probably be better asigning each one a number and then each character has 6 slots for types and you put the number in each slot. obviously a slot can have no class.

diplomacy = 1
treachery =2
engineering = 3

type cards

name
slot 1
slot 2
slot 3
etc.

this will make it easier when checking for missions..

does my charcter have diplomacy?
check slot 1,2,3....
if slot 1=1 then mission passed()

'Ooh 'eck chief'...'crumbs'

You might try looking through that (sorry, I didn't have time to comment it. I've been pretty busy lately). And yes, you probably are going to want to use types for your card titles and such. Hope this helps!

No problem, amigo. I got your email, I just didn't have time to sit down and write something up. Had the day off.

I'm a fan of Star Trek. From Kirk to Picard to Sisko to Janeway to (and even)Archer, I've seen them all. But never got into the card game. I invested so much money into MagicTG (all the way back to Alpha, Ice Age, big fan of Urza, etc.) that I never got into any others.

I did start to make a card game at one point though. Was going to be an AVP card game (based somewhat off the AVP pen and dice RPG I filled a book with (Yes, I am a Sci-fi nerd)). I had some decent rules set up, but never did anything with it. Fox(Faux) probably would have tried to sue me, anyway.

Anyways, I'll be watching for progression!
