"Nephilism defines a race of demons known as the Nephilim who mated with humans, and this is believed to be a Pre-Adamic state"

"Pre-Adamic state"

Audio/Holographic Journal Entry for the Lunar Pass Beginning November the Fifth, 2134.

Tonight is the night. If you're listening to this log, the most likely story is that I've been killed in a variety of ways. Either I'll be discovered as a mutinous mutant by the very team I serve, or I will be lost in the first march on Metrocorp, which I've been chosen for due to my "Natural" physical prowess. Little do they all know.

For those of you who haven't kept up with my last confidential entries, which is most of you, I'll sum up the past events before prefacing my goals laid out for the night.

In 2100, the year I was born, New Tokyo, a redevelopment of tokyo city to "modernize it" was renamed to "Neotokyo". From what was once a fresh and new city, a seedy underbelly of greedy corporations bought their way to the top, pushing back zoning regulations to the bare minimum. The city is now a dumpster of technology and neon.

In 2105, Metrocorp released the first cybernetic modification. It was a small injection of billions of nanometer-long robots that established a hold on your brain's outer frontal lobe, and serving to further route electronic signals from synapses essentially doubling your productivity. By 2107, they were made inexpensive enough that the vast majority of the public could have them. This, and other readily available cybernetic body modifications, quickly separated the world into two classes.

About sixty percent of us... no, Them... Used these "Upgrades" The other forty couldn't afford them, or didn't want them. I was part of the few who didn't want them. By 2115, The world had seen it's first two corporations to have more power militarily, politically, and monetarily than a country's government. I was drafted into a private military owned by Metrocorp when I turned 18, participating in the first entirely corporation-funded war in 2118. That was the war that Metrocorp initiated to put Globe-Cybernetics out of business.

Naturally, all recruits, by that point in 2118, were forced into a standard kit of mods to improve their abilities in combat. I was given some bone-strengthening injections, as well as a brain chip allowing for custom applications of Metrocorp's choice to be installed into my brain's thought process subroutines at any time, remotely.

After I left the Private-Military in search for other work, I quickly hired an underground scientist of the techno-resistance to hack my Metrocorp Mind Programming, allowing me full control of it. I paid him extra to never tell a soul I had it. From there, I joined the Cybermod resistance. A splinter faction of roughly a few hundred thousand. Today, the scientist is my best friend.

As the next years went by, Metrocorp established themselves as the prominent political leader of tokyo, governing any decisions made by the actual ruling party. It was only a matter of time before they decided that they needed to cut the dead-weight. As this happened, most of the underclass of the unmodified had been forced to ghettos in the dirtier inner city. In 2030, the order came down. All of those who could not afford, or refused to use any Cybermod were ordered to be rounded up and placed into militant work camps. Soon, by 2032, those became Death-camps.

Why? because if half of an overcrowded society was holding the society back, they needed to be removed. It's only simple logic.

I'm currently living in one of those ghettos. Most residents stay hidden inside in annexes at night, and refuse to answer their doors when the agents come to take them away. Since I have cybernetic mods, I need not worry about being taken, and thus I'm valueble to the Resistance for nighttime operations. They just assume It's my careless bravado, but they take what they can get. Tonight, my mission is to infiltrate the Inner City office of Metrocorp and Disable the robotic agents, so that the gathered resistance in the financial district can storm the offices of Metrocorp and seize control, making way for the imprisoned to escape and join the revolt.

The entire mission rests upon me. I'm going to need a drink first.

Buy the game's models (coming soon)

basically this is the cyberpunk pack's advergame. we figured that if seeing basic pictures of the models didn't do it for you, maybe playing a game with them might make you want them.

Aah, very nice! I like the story, very typical cyberpunk, but then, there aren't a lot of cyberpunk games. Reminds me a lot of Human Revolution. Sounds like some cool gameplay elements could pop up here, and I'm really digging the style of all the models. Great work!

very cool to do a game to promote a game-dev-media-pack^^

by the way, did i mention that i love cyberpunk in all forms, may it be the gibsons in books or the pen&paper rpg (my buddies and i play this for 20 years now, still today once a month), not to speak of the awesome deus ex and the new (horrific brutality glorifying, but funny to play) syndicate in digital games?

so GO OOOOON, cant wait to see more. cant wait for pics of characters if you do custom cyberpsychos.

Quote: "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost in time, like tears...in rain.

Do your maps compile with 8 or more TF341 soldiers? I have to ask, how large are these city maps? Can you post a screen shot to an average map that compiles, with at least, 8 or more TF341 soldiers?

I'm very curious :o

they're not very "cyberpunk" so I don't use them.

Quote: "how large are these city maps?"

about the size of the grid

Quote: "Can you post a screen shot to an average map that compiles, with at least, 8 or more TF341 soldiers?"

I don't have many games that use only dark city soldiers, and it's not about how big the map is, it's about how well optimized and detailed it is. the more detail and polys, the less characters you'll be able to use without lag. also you may want to consider triggering characters as that will make for far less lag.

more cables and antennas ... much more antennas and parabols everywhere.

really nice work, bugsy.

googlesearch for "Hak Nam / Kowloon / Walled City" in Hong Kong , deepest slumworld ever. very good inspiration for such a thing. a place where daylight was abscent for decades, relict of the 80s.

thanks maho76, kowloon is an inspiration, but not quite the inspiration as tokyo. It's very much an interesting place, but it looks more ugly than futuristic. on top of that, that many cables and antennaes are not very easy on polycount. the polycount in that scene is 45000 approximately.

Now, this game isn't quite as stringent on polycount as some of my others, but that's not to say I don't try to keep it from exploding.

most of my inspirations come from:

tokyo

Blacklight Retribution

E.Y.E. divine cyberpamcy

Deus Ex

Remember back when you sucked at mapdesign?

Those where the days

Now I'm just kidding. This is some of the best work I've seen from you. You really appear to like the theme.

Sorry for the lag of media from my side. I shall give you some more within the next 2 days. You can take my wolfish word on that.

as you guys know, this game is pretty bluish yellow in the atmosphere department. do you think it looks better with white scanlines and a slightly purpleish pink leaning?

white scanlines are very cool, but i dont like the fullscreen colorshader, its like dumping a color bucket over the whole scene. classic design failure to hide that you cannot play with colors... wich you definitely CAN do very good.

think of the natural lights that appear with the overall color of the neon-banners in the scene. more yellow signs and streetlights = yellow green; more blue and red signs > blue-purple etc.

german comment from maxi:

wishes a redlight-district in classic pink/red, would look great, i agree.

Does anyone else here believe they're not using FPSC?

Anyway, I like the latest screen and agree that the scanlines give it a really cool 80's sci-fi look but the purple color is a bit over done. I think sticking with a color theme for each level will work more to your advantage. Smart placement of color looks a lot better then evenly dispersed color...hope that makes sense.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE..

Have a pink themed level. You have no idea how cool it looks to me. Its just something about the whole Tokyo idea, neon lights, and pink. I slightly think about Kane and Lynch 2's style. Yeah, the game was terrible but they totally nailed some cool effects.
