Hi!

I figured it would be best to start a new thread for my modeling as the old one is featuring my first steps in modeling and is therefore not properly representing my work

Lets start off with some guns:

If you are interested in small props and objects, this link provides you with my latest work

Feedback is appreciated I keep you all updated

How big did you make the texture for the assault rifle? Is it 1024?

Thanks! I don't think it is. Assault rifles of that type aren't very broad.

I love everything about it EXCEPT the handle, you can see the severe smoothing problem on it, AND it feels like you were lazy/out of ideas on the handle texture :/

You are absolutly correct! Its a simple plastic handle and I didn't bother much with the texture there as its where the hand is located anyway You caught me

I think you have improved beyond recognition, I honestly did not know you had advanced at such a rapid rate, very well done.

Its not often I would consider using others work (not arrogance just I prefer to do my own thing to keep design consistent..) but those weapons have a style all their own.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

Wolf,
Whoa, You are coming up! They look great.

Can you show some samples of your specular \ illumination maps? You are nailing the glowing artwork on your weapons

Well, I just black out everything except the part I want to glow on the emissive map and I keep my specular maps really dark with only the parts that should have some kind of reflection rather bright. I can show you texture maps if you like, pick a model then

Here is my hand mesh, my first organic work. I guess this would make me a 3D modeling apprentice then (my former "rank" being novice)

@That Guy JohnThe Submachinegun for the cyberpunk pack: The specular map is rather dark and highlights only chromatic/bright metal spots. LINK

I'm afraid its not much to look at. The reason why I use such a dark map is that these work best in fpsc.

Now: The glowing green parts use a standart emissive map. In fact, the fluorescent parts use only really small space on the UVLayout (as they have no details...why waste space?) Link

I happened to finish this the late afternoon but I had a rendezvous to attend so I was not able to upload a presentation. Its an older model that I finally unwrapped. I'll talk to TheK and see if he would like to aquire it for canalyst. Its been designed to show elements of degredation and rust. As you might tell: I'm also working on my english skills .

Its a russian ots14 Groza. (Most well known by the videogame community through the STALKER Videogameseries.)

I'll get some rest now See ya!

But for FPSC, what you did in the emissive map should be done in the specular right or does FPSC accept emissive maps now?

Thanks for taking the time to show and explain a little.

Bugsy confirmed that someone (I think it was Uzi_idiot) agreed to help us with a weapon shader that'll support emissive maps. I take a step in the dark here though. One thing I can tell you is that the texture for the hands will be on one file with the UV for the guns so shader effects work better. I do however remember advanced shader effects on the stock "Tavor" back in FPSC 1.0...so there should be SOMETHING I can do. If we fail...these parts will be simply green

In this, I think I meant to say Illumination map instead of Specular.

It would be great if you could get all of these to look just the same in FPSC.

On those arms: Are those designs suppose to be like a tattoo or branded? They kind of have a carved in look to them.

Yes indeed! Its for the fpsc cyberpunk pack and its supposed to be cybernetic implants or something like that. You know...cyberpunkish stuff ala deus ex. If you remove it from the normalmap, it looks like a tattoo

That is correct! I was actually temped to add some wires to stick out of the arteries and maybe metal plates with control screens BUT the rig should easily be transformed in normal hands as the pack will be sold and everyone has different storys and different protagonists... a majority without cyberpunk implants

@Dark Frager: I'm happy to hear that

@all:

I'm attempting to clear my harddisk of models and several meshes I made in the past months.
There aren't a lot but too many to let them rot there so here is a collection of items I have left from when I was working on my fantasy game "Relikt". The sworddisplay however is new

I will make several more and release this as a medieval minipack.

Thanks for your interest!

I wanted to make an account there a while ago and TGC sent me a ton of papers to sign and send back and... yeah! Procrastination has failed me to do that. If I star to make a lot more content I will pick that up again.

You can get the pack via paypal transaction once it is done.

I finished it up now and it will be ready soon.

This is some more content:

Makarov Time! As I made this mesh for canalyst, I added an extra version with rust and some other shenanigans.

You may notice the full and empty magazine. It shouldn't be a problem for a skilled animator to get this straight. If you use FPSC: make sure to use the "Tactical Reload" setting and give your gun an animation where you dont see the extracted magazine if you reload while there are still some bullets in the magazine.

You can get it soon

Thats actually the reason why I shied away from the AK weapons so long!! Russian weapons just have odd curves in odd places. I don't have problems with rounded meshes its just that... its russian...its different than european weapon construction in most ways. Sometimes I tend to believe that they go out of their way to maintain a certain look.

European weapon designs, while often innovative, follow a certain logic that flows well while modeling it. You dont have to look up pictures to guess how this weapon looks in an angle unseen on your reference image. Americans just recycle the same thing and modernise it... or rip off european desings.

As an artist in numerious research, I have seen a bunch of wierd prototypes from all around the world... just nothing has this certain thing to it that makes you say immediately "ah yeah! that thing is russian"..

I mean, they where drunk...or creative enough to come up with this:

Its fun to know that this rather modern bullpup desgin has been developed in 1946

Oh well! I'm sorry! I tend to ramble on from time to time when I work on something. I hope you dont think now that I'm some kind of wierd gun nut.

Finally finished!!

This thing was a major pain to unwrap and texture properly but I think I've succeeded

Abakan AN94: This one shows the weapon in a well maintained state. It even has a specular map to make the plastic shine a little:

It was tough to find pictures from this gun from all angles... my first draft was built backwards as the only Abakan I ever saw in detail was in the stalker series. Turned out that you cock the gun on the right like an Ak and not on the left side.

This is a custom, very worn down version for canalyst.

Even though the AN 94 is technically superior to the AK 74... it is much harder to maintain and to keep clean and less "robust" in hard weather conditions... its also much harder to learn how to handle an Abakan rifle properly therefore, in the world of Canalyst, its regarded as much less valuable than an AK 74. Spare parts are rare to a point where you could say they are non existant...and those few Abakans that made it into the tunnels are either old pieces of garbage or somewhat maintained weapons locked away in some high ranking personnels trunk.

At least thats what I made up. TheK might change that for canalyst.

If you would like to purchase or request something, feel free to E-Mail me!
