Every so often I go back to making Wipeout. I don't know how many years I have been going back to this, but it has taken this long for me to create a reasonable craft...

You might could clean up some polys here and there and you've got a few 4+ sided polys, but the design looks sweet and it looks like it's ready to wreak havoc in a race! Good job!

Just making the texture. I have cut the model up into parts, and then can place the parts on the UV Map. I am wondering if this is a good Aluminium sheet type texture. It will have a normal map later, but I am looking for tips on the diffuse layer. It is 1024*1024, and this is the middle section by the canopy. It a rough out, will have adverts on it, but I want a few tips first...

first: i loved wipeout, nice to see someone around here is still into this.

physics/chem-question: alluminium and rust?

i would use some sort of carbon smut and scars from rocket-hits or slacks.

I was going to have it so that they stick steel plates to the aluminium to deflect missiles, I suppose that could be on the normal map. The final pattern finish will cover a lot of it anyway.

Nice to see some texturing progress going on! My only suggestion would be to maybe have the rust, and damage streaking in the direction that the vehicle would be moving. Would look a bit more realistic, and would also add a sense of forward motion even when not moving. Great job, though!!! Can't wait to see it all done. I love me some spaceships and scifi vehicles!

Yeah I did actually streak the missing paint in the right direction, but I scaled it down, and it appears to have scaled away the streaks. I'll start that bit again.

Looking really good, I like the design. I think if you added some damage on the front edges you'll make it look 'fast'.

Thanks! Well this is the final version without the Normal Map, and the Normal Map will have some more damage on it...
