hi Sorry if this has been posted recently but can some one please give me ideas or any code on how a instant chat program across the internet would work as i whant to make one for me and my friend any help is greatly apreciated!

there is a chat app example written by IanM in the codebase, that should get you started

It will be a good starting place, but I think it needs updating a bit though.

Currently it will only really work on a local network because it uses the DEFAULT NET GAME function

check out DUEL on my website.
All the chat stuff is in the file chat.dba
and the settup options are done at the top of the main file
duel2.dba

NOTE:
this is DBPro code, but
the internet code should work in DBC, just don't try to use
the code as is in DBC as it will not work. Also, you'll notice
that I use the commandline options to settup a game.
If the options are blank, the game assumes you wish to play offline.

You may recognize this game as Lee Bambers Tutorial 25. I modified it to perform the following....

1-9 bots during offline play
up to 10 players if online
Guided Missiles for players as well as bots
The .exe requires DX9 to play
and my Matchmaker to Play Online
