forgive me if this is the wrong forum, and forgive me for my lack of prior knowledge on the subject, but is it possible to LOWER the polygon count of something in 3ds max? Mixamo has an auto-rigger/auto biped script that's only free for models under 10k polygons, and I have a character that's over 30k. is there a simple way to decrease her quality within 3ds max without horribly disfiguring her or distorting her texture beyond recognition?

Pro-optimizer? It's a modifier.

I don't know if that would mess up the model with that many polygons.

I guess it's worth a try.

Try the demo before saying no...

well, re model her, over her with a low poly mesh.

my signature keeps being erased by a mod So this is my new signature.

"lack of prior knowledge" implies that he cant simply "remodel" a character.

Even using pro-optimiser you wont be able to to reduce a 30k character mesh down to 10k and still have anything usable for rigging and animation. Your only method if its to be rigged is to retopo the thing.

Awesome! Its one of those threads.

actually, it worked! I took it from 29997 or something to 7k. I animated her doing a b-twist in, backtuck out off of an 8 foot wall, and it looks great!
