Gathering experience is always a great thing
But I'm fairly sure that people will want to see some of your previous work before they ask you to make anything for them... also you might want to consider saying what exactly you can/will do:
-Modelling (yes)
-UV unwrapping?
-Texturing?
-Animating?
Are you more into characters or weapons? Buildings? Spaceships?
So work on some of your own ideas, post screenshots to show people what you can do and I'm sure you'll get requests soon - people can always use assets for their games!
