Hello everyone:

Is there a script that would do the following:

Player and Boss fights. Boss has 100 health points. Player reduces boss health points to 0. BUT, instead of boss dying, boss comes back, says a line like:

"You got me this time. Let's see if you can do it again"

And the fight continues (Boss's health gets restored back to 100).

Then when player fights boss a second time and reduces boss's health to 0, the boss says:

"OK, you win. You can pass through the door. I've had enough but I'll be back."

...and disappears.

Of course, if the player's health reaches 0 during either one of the fights, the player dies.

Is there a script that can do that?

Thanks.

@cobra,

Seems to me after thinking about it. Couldn't you set a timer after the enemies health reaches zero. After the timer runs out the script resets the health to 100. Really I'd think you could change when the enemy goes through the death animation for it to play when the enemies health reaches 1.

If the boss's health reaches zero It'll be destroyed automatically , so I support Corno's workaround , yet I don't know if it'll work as it is . can you please post you boss' script king cobra ?

There is on need to reduce the boss health to 0.

The script simply needs to start the show when the health reaches p.e.50 (of 200): the boss runs the animation for falling on his back and then stands aup again delivering his speech. A little reserve should be there so he doesn't get accidentaly killed and break the script.

Of course after that the player has to be freezed OR the boss made invulnerable so he doesnt (again) accidentaly die and break the script.

And that is the reason why I would never use such a script. If I don't cheat the player, there is the risk of a showstopping bug. And if I deny the player the kill he earned after a hard battle, I risk damaging his motivation or breaking his immersion. I mean, would you let that guy just walk away????

If you really want that kind of Bondesque enemy just let the player kill the boss, and then spawn a holographic projection of the REAL boss who deliveres his usual "You defeated only my lieutenant...next time you will face ME" speach.

Much easier & reliable to script and slighly less despicable.

In case you find my grammar and spelling weird ---> native German speaker ^^

Where Corno's script says health=100 Id say use HEALTHLESS=100 so that if you are using a heavier weapon that takes off more damage, it doesn't miss it.

This all considering you have set your boss character's health to something like 200 or higher.

Also Storyteller's advice is great and would make your game much more worthwhile. Don't have your boss characters die the same as your normal enemies.
