anyone know of a really good cheap web hosting service? prefurably it gives you a .com domain too, even if it costs a little extra, i want a decent amount of space to put things on it too. any suggestions?

Yep, vapournet is very good choice indeed!
It's cheaper than anything I've seen before. Plus it's DB friendly. ;D
