Hey guys,

while exploring the ways to emulate a starfield, i thought about using particles since they can originate from a single point.

is there a way to make particles spread out on a single axis?

that is, make them expand outwards from the source but stay on the same plain if that makes any sense (sort of like a when you spill something on the floor, it explands in every direction but stays on the floor.

also is there a way to make particles flow continuously?

thanks

By the way, *you* spelt 'by' wrong

In answer to the original question, I don't think you have enough control over particles to generate a convincing starfield. I think that the best way to get a starfield is DIY.

i think my use of 'expand' in the original post is correct. I'm sticking to it.

i tried using plains with scrolling textures but its not convincing enough because it looks as though the stars are coming out of this invisible line in the middle of the screen.

I also tried using the demo from the codebase for 3d starfield but the particles seem to go through my loaded objects or atleast i can see them through it.

Do you have any other ideas ianm?

thanks
