FPSC Classic Scripts / my hurt hud is all red and not opaque?

I created my own hurt hud, it's colored but when my player gets hurt in the actual game, the hud is all red! and in gimp, I lowered the opacity but no, it's all red.. attached is a screenshot...

its the hurt-screen hardcoded by fpsc that overlays the color. search for a png or dds inside gamecore (/huds) and adjust color of it. dont know how its called, but its a fullscreen-image with a alphafaded freeview to the middle of the screen. make safety-copy first.
