Its finaly that time to showcase agk's version of QmidiStudio.

update: dec 5,2012
Im currently just adding in instruments in and i also have the copy/cut paste tools left as well as a wi-fi file sender left to do for the first release.

You all may be asking....how the heck?
And yes its true that agk only supports 1-99 sound files loaded at once....however if you do what i did, the song tones actualy load during playback of your midi song.

here is a quick video i did showing its actual playback so far but still needs some minor tweeking.

Let me know what you guys think so far...

features:
-5 channels to write music in
-QmidiStudio 2.15 has the ability to create files for Qmidi on playbook
-will have up to 16 instruments depending on package size... (trying to keep under 100meg)
-full editor....draw,erase,copy,cut,paste
-file system saving,loading

Additional Wi-FI File Sender to come for easy porting of music files back and forth to QmidiStudio 2.15+ and QmidiStudio PE

Here is the video link.... i will post screenshots soon...or check out my forum to see 1 have posted there.

Feedback apreciated!

Wow... Dunno where time went but all i got done this weekend was the wi-fi file transfer done as well as adding in the rest of the instruments.

The good news is that it keeps getting better as i go.
Ive loaded several midis into it and it seems to perform very well.

Last on the list:
-add copy/cut/paste
-eraser bar
-volume controls
-instrument selection

After i get those done i will submit to blackberry.

Maby next weekend i will be done

That's very impressive. Timing sounds good. What timing mechanism are you using?

Can you do triplets?

How are the sound banks organised? Can a GM sound synth be loaded?

Its using 4/4 measures only and bpm (beats per minuite).
Unfortunetly... tripplets are not supported...Id hafta rearange the way everything is stored to get that working.

to get a good timing with agk the process is like this:

-Play button is pushed it pulls a time from the timer...
-get sounds ready

-do
-is timeup to play sounds?--- yes? break loop and grab time from timer
-loop

-process playback and reset the need of loading next sounds.
-update graphics
-sync
-back to get sounds ready

I say with the process its very smooth....the odd hickup occures if alot of tones are needed at a high rate of playback.

If it lags at all your playbook may need to be restarted as another application may not have freed up all of its used resources....ive seen this occure once. (just reboot and works fine)

The beats per minute range is 60 to 240....anything faster and it produces more hickups during playback.

Quote: "How are the sound banks organised? Can a GM sound synth be loaded?"

It uses the proper instrument gm sound banks... however i only have 12 instruments to choose from that bank. QmidiStudio on pc will choose the closest sounding instrument for the ones that are missing when it creates the files.

I will be updating the pc version tonight after work that supports generation of the playbook midi format.

My favorite is the wi-fi file transfer. Oh and the crazy select/copy/paste/transpose.... i did an outstanding job coding that as it plays the paste back to you while you transpose it...then paste it.

Ill inform once blackberry has accepted it.

Screenshot of gm instruments available to select....remember Qmidi on pc will auto select the closest sounding instrument to the ones missing...

Finally...

I can proudly say that QmidiStudio is now available on blackberry playbook.

This first release includes 12 gm instruments as well as a standard drum kit.

I highly recommend getting the windows version with this so you can transfer midi files back and forth with ease!

Thanks for your valued support.

If anyone would like to see anything added to it...drop me a line here and I'll see if I can make it happen.

Release 1.1:
-Added touch draw support
-Fixed eraser glitch

(should be up on playbook soon)
