Yay!

Sherlock Holmes is the baddy too, I wonder if he is as clever but with an evil twist.

The first star trek was superb, pretty unexpectedly for me, it even got my wife interested which was even more amazing.

Can't wait, I've backed the kickstarter

They need to fire whoever made that teaser trailer, there's no dubstep in it. All commercials need dubstep in them, that's what the kids are listening to these days, right?

Also, SHERLOCK!

It's been suggested that the baddie could be Kahn or Gary Mitchell.

Gary Mitchel is more psychokinetic and telepathic I think. In the trailer, Sherlock shows a lot of strength with his huge leap and smacking that guard with what looks like a gigantic gun.

I think either villain would suit this movie.

Trailer didn't interest me at all. Looks like a generic sci-fi film to me. But then the last star trek didn't feel like star trek at all either. Oh, and the poster looks more like an ad for Matrix 4.

That's funny because that's literally the first thing that came to my mind.

However with that said, the trailer blew my mind. Looks better than amazing.

Words cannot describe my Greatness... But I'll give it a shot.

I am awesome....... Yeah, that works.

What Data thing? I thought everything was tied up.

I am really glad that these movies are making Star Trek "cool" again. I wonder how many they will make, and how long JJ Abrams will be directing.

Well, according to the IMDB, it he is rumoured to be Kahn.

Wait... the hand-to-glass...omg!

I think it will be Khan, that last little bit with Kirk and Spock putting their hands together is DEFINITELY an indication of that (at the end of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, the exact same thing happened. It stands to reason that it would happen again!).

Movie looks like it'll be awesome!

I didn't even have any idea Star Trek was coming in 2013. I guess I was concentrating too much on the fact that tomorrow will be the end of the world.

Another cool thing is it is going to be in 3D. As an oldie who has experienced the poor quality of 3D with the red and blue paper glasses and have experience the high tech of the new method of creating 3D with the new type glasses, I am excited about it.

THEORY - you know everything but nothing works. PRACTICE - when everything works but don't know why. For me, theory and practice are combined: nothing works and I don't know why.

So the mystery is solved!! The villain for the new Star Trek movie is Spock's half-brother, Sybok! ...and this is why I think that;
A) His speed and agility/ strength
B) He can resist a Vulcan neck pinch
C) He has slightly pointed ears, since he's half human too, he retain more of the human the Vulcan side of him
D) In the original universe he was cast out of Vulcan for his beliefs, well what would happen to him if Vulcan was destroyed?? Seeks vengeance against the Federation and the crew of the Enterprise??
E) In the last trailer released, he hear the villain speaking about 'wouldn't you do anything for your family'...he's not speaking to Kirk, he's speaking to Spock! We also get a nice shot of Spock holding up his hand while another touches the glass between them.

ah damnit, I didn't want to read that. I didn't want to know who the enemy was!

I'm officially boycotting any more trailers or news for star trek 2013, I wanna be surprised. I already feel they showed me too much in the trailer, I have no idea why a Constitution class starship is crashing into water and I don't want to find out until I start watching the film!

I actually don't know who he really is, this is my best guess after a sudden realization. So like I said before, maybe I'm crazy.

Officially, we still do not know who the main villain is in Star Trek.

I suppose it could be Sybok... it would be interesting to see how they handle that story of him "finding God" in the new timeline, but of course under differing circumstances... although, that didn't happen until the crew were in their older years, so I'm not sure that would work out too well, so never mind.

I'm hoping it's Khan... I really am. It would be too weird if they didn't at least touch on Khan, since he was kind of a big deal in the original movie series (though not the Original TV Series ).

I'm hoping it's not Karn, it would be too obvious. A character from TOS would be good, but I feel it's too early for Karn mostly because the first movie preceeded the first 5 year mission. As I understand it Kirk has gone from the Academy straight to commanding the Enterprise in a heartbeat. In TOS he had at least one other starship assignment before heading off to command the Enterprise.

We know from TOS, that Kirk was part of the USS Farragut at least 7 years before he commanded the Enterprise. That's 7 years of seasoning that this Timeline kirk has lost. The a cloud creature which gave off a sicky sweet smell attacked the Farragut in 2257 killing 200 crew members. This would have been Kirks first major experience of death and loss of people he came to know personally.

I hope they are brave enough to break away from the old timeline almost completely. It's far too early to find Karn I feel. After all, starfleet and klingon forces were both attacked by Nero, so from a military standpoint they can't go off exploring like they did before, starfleet would have to keep ships like the enterprise pretty close to home for defense. Once enough time has passed they can star their 5 year exploration mission and discover karn floating in space. But at the moment, discovering Karn would be pretty unlikely.

Also: lensflares...I really like them

Lol JJ said his lens flares in the first film were over the top, not much has changed in the new film, I see some lensflares emitted from absolutely nothing; however it's probably a signature move, and can sometimes be used effectively.

Not looking forward to how blinding light sabers are going to look...

However, I still like JJ's work.

I think that's just Cumberbatch's normal resonant, sexy voice.

The lense flares gave the world an eerie brilliance like stepping out of the dark into the sunlight, Star Trek is all about discovery and alien worlds so to me it was a fitting effect to use.

It's always hard to top the first (intros of primary characters, etc); but it's a matter of taste. I found this one to be equally as exciting, and full.

Just saw it.

Not bad, not great. Definitely not Star Trek (I'm not even a Star Trek fan by any stretch of the imagination and I can tell this; it's more of a summer sci-fi action flick with elements of the Star Trek universe than a Star Trek movie).

Yes, I live in Wisconsin. No, I don't live on a farm.
