FPSC Classic Scripts / What script controls gun/weapon volume?

Hi all!

I've been trying for a while to lower just the volume for gun sounds, but all I found in the gunspec.txt for the guns is "soundstrength =100".

So far I've lowered that to 50, then lowered it to 25 with seemingly no difference. I also tried adding a space between the number and the equals sign. I also ran the cleaner after every attempt.

I'm trying to do this for the guns in model pack 10, model pack 53, and some assorted guns from the Game Creator Store. I'm hoping there is an easier way to do this (with some line of code) rather than having to manually lower the volume for all the WAV files.

My goal is to have the guns' volume lower than the music throughout the game, but still there enough that you can hear it without being annoying, e.g. being able to play the game with headphones and not going deaf.

Editing a txt file will do nothing obviously. You need to edit the specific guns fpe file. You could also change the sound file it plays to that of a silenced weapon. I have never messed around with the "soundstrength" command.

Well I only edited the gunspec files because I didn't see anything in the fpe files that related to sound. What should I add or edit to the fpe files to lower the volume?

I know about changing the sound files, I figured there would be an easier way and I like how the sounds match the guns (shotgun, sniper rifle, etc.) just not how loud they are.

Sorry for the delayed response. The script for the said weapon has the plsound=$0 so it's just telling the engine to play the sound in the weapons stats. Changing it in the stats would be the quickest and easiest way. You could edit the weapons script to play that sound as well but to me anyway thats too much work.
