Turns out I had a mix up with which file was being loaded.

But still...
Character01.DBO -> loads in 0.5 seconds.
Character01.X -> loads in 2 MINUTES.

Whaaa?

The .dbo file even has the textures built in, the .x doesn't!

I'm converting all of my objects to .dbo but its kind of silly how long it takes to load .x files...

Not every machine experiences this issue, my laptop does but my desktop loaded x pretty quick too.

You are doing the right thing by saving to dbo. I think loading from an x file means that a lot of extra data needs to be calculated, perhaps limb dimensions/bounds etc. The dbo format saves all this stuff and can then simply load it back in.

That's funny because I'm on a laptop. Weird how there is that much of a difference :\

It's quite simple, .X is not a native DBPro format thus every model needs to be converted to .DBO internally upon loading. If you use DBO's they contain all necessary auxiliary data and are loaded instantaneously.
